Xbox One beta for game creator Project Spark will start in February

Anyone already in the Project Spark beta will be sent a second key.

by

The Xbox One beta for game creation suite Project Spark will begin in February, Microsoft has announced.

The full software is due out later this year, with a Windows 8 beta currently ongoing.

"Project Spark Xbox One closed beta begins in February," wrote developer Team Dakota on the game's Facebook page.

"If you have a Windows 8 beta key, it will also give you access to the Xbox One beta. If you are in the Windows 8 beta, you will automatically have access to the Xbox One beta when it starts."

Everyone who was already sent a key for the Project Spark PC beta will receive a second when the Xbox One beta starts, so they can invite a friend if they're feeling charitable.

Anything built using the PC version of the software will also work on Xbox One, the developer added.

Anyone interested in signing up can do so via the Project Spark site.

Oh, exclusives.... I didn't buy a PS3 until this year, so I think I'll be relying on my PC for nearly another decade until enough of a reason builds up for me to buy a console from this generation. Then I'll play Project Spark ... if I don't get a PS4 instead. Bit of a bummer really.

I got into the PC beta but you have to have windows 8 to run. You won't take me alive Microsoft.

Miguel De Carvalho Hey dumbass. Its on Windows 8.1 as well. They wanted to take more time to make sure it was good for X1.

i must say this one of the only things i really liked about the MS show at E3, what i truly liked about it is the multi use of it. the fact that you can make a rpg like game out of it or something like a tides of blood game (dota/LOL to the simple minded people) (like me you warcraft 3 fans) the versatility is endless from what i can gather and i think its can be a great hit if the right people use it creatively to create a plethora of games and such. on the other hand this can be a big blunder IMO as well, the games created from it need to be not just be good but aslo be popular and gather almost a colt following, otherwise it will end up like minecraft hugely popular then just die out slowly, because once everyones done everything to do in the game it becomes stale and pointless.

Grrr, I didn't make sure to use the same email address as I do for my MS account on Xbox Live.  On Windows it wouldn't let me login with a different email, it had to match the one that I used when I put in for a chance at the beta,  So now when I get the Xbox One key, I'll be all screwed up because that email won't have an Xbox Live Gold account registered to it.

Looks like a lot of fun, can't wait !

Screw this game , Screw the creators behind it for forcing people to switch to Windows 8.1 to run the game

More like greatness has to wait. The reason why I cancelled my previous order and I'm not gonna get one until next year is because there are no games and doesn't look like there are any coming out any time soon besides Second Son and Order 1886.

This has so much potential. The premise is astonishing. It's a shame I'll never get to try it.

No way I'll get an xbox one and I'll stick with windows 7 thank you very much.

"Anything built using the PC version of the software will also work on Xbox One"

Smart move right there.

I hope this will turn out as great as it looks on paper.

LBP and Infamous were the only 2 games that made me like having a PS3. But this game is on a whole different level that LBP can't match.

Sweet! I just got my beta key for the PC version. I'm just load Windows 8 tonight and have my son play it seeing that it's his most anticipated game. I can't wait to get the second key.

Fuuuucckkk I hate this new website. I had to reformat and now the damn video won't load again in Chrome and I can't remember how I fixed it last time. -.- Any one? I'm not disabling Adblock. So don't suggest that.

To keep this on topic so it doesn't get deleted or something, I was trying to watch the video above.

I got my beta code a few days ago, but don't have a windows 8 pc. I can't wait for the XBO beta to start. I was looking forward to this when it was announced and apperently the final copy of the game will be free. PS4 has nothing like this.

@MAXAM999the decision is from Microsoft, they want you to upgrade your computer to Win8.1 or buy Xbox One (or Xbox 360). Win8 is not bad, and if it's the problem about no start menu popscreen, there is a download for it, just google it!

Saketume

@MAXAM999

Their loss really. No way I'm switching to win 8 for this.

& if there's a pirate version or hack that makes it work with win 7 I'll go with that.

@mike468You're right, PS4 doesn't have anything like it, since PS3 had it years ago - Little Big Planet, might've heard of it?

blackace

@Sl4cka@mike468LBP is nothing like Project Spark. Wtih LBP you could create levels for other gamers to try. Similar to Trials HD which you could create tracks for other gamers to race across to reach the finish like. With Project Spark, you can create LBP type game or games in other genre. I'm going to create a large RPG game and some kind of sports game.

compu22
compu22

@Sl4cka @mike468 ARE YOU FUCKING SERIOUS?!?!?!? Project spark is WAY different than LBP. ( and better if you are like me :D ) Really though, those are two totally different games.

mike468
mike468

LBP is nothing like Project Spark.

So you're trying to say a linear platformer with customization options and a level builder is the same as a full fledged game creation suite?

acp_45

@Sl4cka @mike468 LMAO.!!!!!!

Little Big Planet LOL

Nothing to do with this.

That was a platformer

@Sl4cka@mike468 oh, and PC had something like that over 10 years before that called Klick and Play

LucentWolf

@Grenadeh @LucentWolf @Sl4cka Oddly enough, it worked. I installed flash again and it's working. Chrome has flash built in, I know. Prolly why I didn' bother in the first place.

Grenadeh
Grenadeh

@LucentWolf @Sl4cka You don't need to install Flash if you're on Chrome. However I would try installing Shockwave Flash.

While Project spark is way more advanced than LBP You might want to check what people actually have created with LBP before you argue that it's just a platformer.

watch?v=OxkTFBzWOws

Paste that into youtube and see for yourself how people have broken free from the platform limitation and made all sorts of games.

I'm no LBP fan but don't dismiss it as "just a platformer" when there obviously exists a possibility to create other game types.

Sl4cka
Sl4cka

@mike468That "lever builder" when used wisely could entirely alter the way you played the game. So, yes, I do say it is like Project Spark. Just because Project Spark might have more freedom and features does not make it a completely different species.

Sl4cka
Sl4cka

@acp_45Yet another clueless soul. LBP had a really powerful creation tool, LBP2 even more so. It amazes me how people think they know something about a game, when all they did is saw a couple of screenshots.

Grenadeh
Grenadeh

@Sl4cka @Grenadeh I have the game you illiterate Sony Pony dolt. You are clueless if you compare Spark to LBP.

Sl4cka
Sl4cka

@GrenadehYou clearly don't know what you're talking about if you think that's all it is.

pspearman
pspearman

@cvantu @Grenadeh @Sl4cka @mike468 Agreed, I'm in the Project Spark Beta and it is purely a game creation tool with a simple yet alarmingly powerful toolset.

I was looking through the community uploads the other night and it has everything from platformers, tetris clones and side scrolling shooters. A LBP clone this is not

cvantu
cvantu

@Grenadeh@Sl4cka@mike468 I laughed that he actually had that argument with LBP. I really liked LBP, but that game does not even compare with the tools you get in PS.
