Xbox One and PS4 Getting Telltale's Walking Dead, Wolf Among Us

After retailer leaks, Telltale officially confirms its popular franchises are coming to new consoles.

The reports were right. Telltale Games today officially confirmed that its Walking Dead and Wolf Among Us adventure games are coming to the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. The Walking Dead seasons one and two, as well as the first season of The Wolf Among Us, will be available on retail discs later this year.

In addition, Telltale Games announced that the second season of The Walking Dead and The Wolf Among Us will be released as retail discs for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 later this year. The first season of The Walking Dead is already available on Xbox 360 and PS3.

The second season of The Walking Dead is ongoing, with the latest episode--In Harm's Way--having launched just two weeks ago.

Today's announcement is not much of a surprise, as various retailers earlier this month posted product listings for The Walking Dead and The Wolf Among Us for Xbox One and PS4.

Telltale has not shared pricing information for any of the Walking Dead or Wolf Among Us console versions or provided specific release dates. The company says it will have details about availability "soon."

why dont they just package both titles together??? the wolf among us and the walking dead combined into a single release

If I'll be able to play these on the PS4 without the ridiculous loading between scenes and various other performance issues, I'll gladly throw my money at this. If it's just a direct port with no improvements though... I'll stay away.

seriously whats the point on getting these on xbox one or ps4.  my 2011 macbook pro can run them on full graphics so I doubt the xbox 360 or ps3 had a problem doing that either. so why pay more for the next gen versions when they look exactly the same?

I actually like "Wolf Among Us" better than the Walking Dead games.

@Vodoo I wouldn't go that far. Wolf among us is amazing though.

They patched 'some' games to work on the 360, but not all. Time Splitters 3 won't work on the 360, as an example.

@tableofjapan It's nothing new since the start of video games they always port old games to the next gen. Mega man X for snes/ps1 earthworm jim 2, space harrier sms, gen, saturn etc.. nothin new.

I have stopped buying brand new PS3 games and held out on major games that I finally planned to pick up for them since it became apparent that there was a great chance at a superior port coming out on PS4 in the near future. Now I feel like I wasted some of my money on some purchases. This is the worst transitional phrase in gaming.

I have no idea why they would do this? The graphics aren't even that good. So a port is in any means justifiable.

CaveManCobb

@vladric Yeah because people totally play Telltale games for the cutting edge graphics. God forbid they have an art style instead of photorealism.

@vladric i think, maybe this isn't about the graphics,is about the story and gameplay..

If you haven't played The Walking Dead yet... I highly recommend you buy it

This just goes to show you how thin the libraries are on both systems. Publishers can just push out re-releases and make money.   God I hate the transitional phase between console gens.

This is a great move; the more who get to experience these wonderful titles, the better.  I was waiting for this announcement.

Good news since I only bought episode one of the second season. I'll get the whole second season of the walking dead on PS4.

I may also get the wolf among us too for PS4. It looks as good as TWD.

Vodoo

I actually prefer Wolf more. Its got a much better story and the characters are 10 times more interesting.

Aaronp2k
Aaronp2k

@Vodoo probably because its based on a comic whereas the walking dead is a spinoff of a tv show with its own original story.

The first season of the Walking Dead game was awesome! I look forward to season two.

Was waiting for this two to end before buying the full pack. So yeah, good news.

It'd be cool if they could transfer the saves over like they're doing with Minecraft.

Ragnawind

If they made it crossbuy on PS4 for if you already have the season pass on PS3, it would be worthwhile, but if not, it isn't really worth it for me, since I won't pay for a game twice.

Options are always good, but I'm having a hard time understanding now just getting it on PC.

I'm having a hard time imagining laptops, recent desktops , &  a significant portion of recent mobile devices that can't run these games.

It'll be installable instantly on any future device you may have and so on. Of course buying it on PS4 and Xbox One is definitely sensible since they just started, but I'm certain some people will double-dipping at that point, buying the same content they had on the PS3 & Xbox 360.

Since they're ongoing, it would personally suck to buy it on 360 and PS3 at this time.

Dannystaples14
Dannystaples14

@lozandier Buy it on whichever's cheapest. Steam summer sales are coming up soon which is why I'm holding off buying anything at the moment.

If people just want something to play on their new console then it is as good as any to play it on.

@Dannystaples14 @everson_rm But, but, if isnt 1080p @ 60fps isn't worth. (sarcasm is hard to get in a text).

Dannystaples14
Dannystaples14

@everson_rm Yeah I always presume people are being sarcastic now. Unfortunately my reply also sounds way more serious than I really intended it to be for the same reason, haha.

Dannystaples14
Dannystaples14

@everson_rm Why would these games ever need to be in 1080p OR 60fps?

Doesn't have any fast gameplay to make 60fps necessary and it is simplistic comic style meaning it will look no better in 1080p.

berserker66666

The Walking Dead game is one of the most well written story driven adventure game ever. And those choice driven consequences are so brutal.

VegasAceVII
VegasAceVII

@berserker66666 The writing is good but the choices actually don't make much of a difference.  They're very good at the smoke and mirrors tactic though, they even fool me sometimes.

I guess Sony and MS need more free game fodder for their new console monthly services.

RyogaRod

Almost shocked GS doesn't have this listed as "PS4 has this resolution while X1 has this" and or "Telltale's Walking Dead, Wolf Among Us skipping Wii U".

BamaGoatt

@RyogaRod those are filler articles but let me help you out ps4 1080 p Xbox one 1p lol and we are skipping the Wii u because we make enough money without that console.

Nice, haven't played Walking Dead Season 2, or Wolf Among Us, and I loved Walking Dead Season 1, so I'll probably end up picking up all three of these.
