While Nintendo and Sony have just launched the online stores for their respective new consoles, the Xbox 360 and its online marketplace will celebrate their first birthday this Wednesday.

With the one-year head start, Xbox Live Arcade already has dozens of games available for download, and this Wednesday at 1 a.m. PST, it will get one more--Small Arms. Developed by Gastronaut Studios, the same team behind Fuzzee Fever for the original Xbox Live Arcade, the full version of Small Arms will cost 800 Marketplace points ($10).

The game is a multiplayer brawler in the same vein as Nintendo's Super Smash Bros. series and supports up to four fighters over Xbox Live. The game's bizarre slate of 12 characters range from a "cyborg tabby cat," to a mutant chicken who was a former Mexican wrestler, and each comes strapped with its own unique weapon.

Small Arms also features 12 achievements, including one designed to show off Xbox Live's web of social networking. The Six Degrees of Small Arms achievement can only be gained by playing with someone who already has the achievement. Currently, only the game's four developers have the achievement.

Small Arms is rated E10+ for Everyone 10 and Older. For more information, read GameSpot's preview of the game.
