Xbox 360 spring sale is on, but it doesn't feature the best bargain on Xbox Live right now

Batman: Arkham City and Arkham Asylum are $4.99 each if you're an Xbox Live Gold subscriber.

by

There's an Xbox 360 spring sale on! Only, the best deal on Xbox Live right now has nothing to do with Microsoft's Xbox 360 spring sale. Instead, if you're an Xbox Live Gold subscriber, you can pick up Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City for $4.99 a piece as part of a weekly deal. Both are certainly worth a punt if you're yet to play them and you enjoy having fun.

Highlights of the actual (less good) Xbox 360 spring sale are Borderlands 2 for $6.99, the Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag season pass for $13.39, and Saints Row IV for $14.99.

There's also discounts on a chunk of DLC, including for Saints Row IV, Dead Island, Dishonored, Borderlands 2, Skyrim, Fallout 3 and New Vegas, Thief, and State of Decay. Discounts range from 33 percent to 75 percent: check out Major Nelson's blog for a full list of what's on sale.

These deals are valid until April 21, Microsoft adds.

Or you can get Batman Arkham City (including catwoman DLC) completely free this month through Sony with a PS Plus subscription.

Well they are just trying to ease people to go digital i'm not interested in at all unless it's free.

It could be worse, you could pay retail. I'm glad Sony's success with PSN sales forced MS to run these deals.

Picking up SR4 for sure. It's been on my radar for a while but i didn't feel comfortable picking it up at full price since it doesnt look much different than SR3.

I hope the Dishonored DLC comes on sale for PSN soon, £8 a piece is quite a lot for 4/5 maps.

If I remember correctly, wasn't Saints Row for free on PS+?

Batman Arkham is free for PS Plus this month. Works out that I was one of the only people on the PLANET to have not played any of the Batman series. Hehe

My moneys waiting for trials fusion in a week or so, can't wait to play that game. The custom tracks people make are better than the campaign tracks.

If I didn't already own (and beat) both of these Batman games, I'd be all over this.

4.99 each? Arkham City is free on PS Plus right now...and you can get Arkham Asylum at gamestop for 5 bucks. Nice try MS.

@teller76567

Baffling comment.  How hard did you have to work to make huge discounts sound like a bad thing?

It's quite a lot different to 3 don't worry. All the 2 games share is the map :)

Actually, I just saw it was on sale in March. Pity Gamespot couldn't bother to report on it so I missed out. Lazy.

@jedaii_knight

Which Arkham game is it though? Because if you're starting with Origins that's the worst possible way you could start the series.

@sladakrobot @deuely  I'll admit that I don't like the UI on PSN as much as I did on XBL as it can be slightly clunky, but for 6$ less, and I get more free games every month....games that are not old as shit...I'll deal with the clunkiness lol.

@sladakrobot @deuely  Yepper. Once you download it, its yours as long as you maintain your subscription. 17.99 for 3 months as opposed to 24.99 for 3 months on XBL. Just so you know, I used to be a die-hard 360 player. PS Plus is just, hands down, the better deal.

A full sale. Lots of Codemasters game. One that would get titled Codemasters Sale or something.

@Starhopper4  because the price is different for yearly and 3 month subscriptions i.e 4 * 3 month is more expensive than 1 yearly. Brush up on your comprehension genius.

$18 x 4 = $72/year for your PoS. And I don't know where you came up with $24.99/3 months for xbox live. I just renewed my XBox live membership for $60/year. Actually less than that since I got 3 free months this cycle. Brush up on your math genius. And you don't like your UI or servers either. Such a deal.

@DarkTlaloc @deuely @sladakrobot  I just got a 13 month XBL card on sale from Amazon for $44 after tax, discounts aren't hard to find. But I guess it's easier just to take the highest price for one particular set of months and the lowest for the other and make a fair comparison...

@deuely @sladakrobot  I usually pay about $40 a year for XBL (there are pretty regularly sales on the 12 month sub), so I'm good with my price.

I don't think there's anyone debating PS+ being a good deal, but I don't like the fact that you have to maintain the subscription to keep the games. With XBL, the 2 free games a month are free forever. So I'd say they're on pretty even terms at this point (although PS+ is better on the PS4 than Games for Gold is on the XB1).
