The Xbox 360 is set to spread its wings wider in Europe. Following on the heels of the announcement that the console will launch in South Africa in September came word today that gamers in the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, and Slovakia will be able to buy their very own Xbox 360s starting November 3. The planned launch titles are Project Gotham Racing 3, Kameo, and Perfect Dark Zero.
When will they bring the 360 to Turkey? PS2 and Gamecube are here.... sigh... I had to import over my 360 from Europe so I could play...
hi, that not like that. We are not a third world!!! I`m living in Poland and we have 360 for a long time, but not official. From November everything will be the same expect our language in Xbox Live! and xbox.com. This is a great news. aha just one thing.. In shops we got all games for 360 for a long time so don`t you think that we will play only this tree. thats all. !!MIDDLE-EUROPEAN Player!!
Yeah. I'm a big 360 fan, but who gives a rip? It came out 8 months ago and the people in South Africa are just now getting theirs? Wow. Slow news day for the gaming community.
Great to hear that the 360 is launching in sunny South Africa....although I am South African I currently live in the UK.Having the 360 launch at home is great news as all we ever get there in bulk is Sony consoles.... if you want anything else you need to find an importer.......which costs a lot more. Sony seem to have a strangling hold in the SA market and having another big name console will be great for us consumers/gamers.Not to mention the fact that it will certainly have a lower retail price when compared to PS3 on release. Good on you Microsoft...its about time South African gamers get to choose which console they would like to purchase from the shop counters. Cometition never hurts. Cheers all
Project Gotham Racing 3 is like a gift from the gods....I didn't like Kameo and PDZ though...here's hoping those gamers across Europe get to dabble their feet in the magnificence of Oblivion soon. I am glad that more people get to take part in playing these games, the 360 is an awesome console and there's no reason for anyone to be left out on the fun. My only tip is, make sure to get PGR3, it's amazing.
People are ignorant. That was a good post, brad_millar. Seeing as though, these kids (and unfortunately, some adults) are very uneducated when it comes to world culture its nice to have someone who actually experienced both culture to inject a little knowledge into these over-privalaged Americans since their parents have obviously failed. I'm almost embarassed to be an American (although, not even American by choice -- just a consequence of our nation's ignorant past). The 360 will sell no matter where it is expanded. I think their marketing team is paid enough to know what they're doing.
The 360 is horrible gaming....ARe you high. The 360 is the **** The games are awsome the graphics are WOW. If your banking on the PS3 to be better it wont be. Its losing a lot of exclusives, its overpriced, and blu-ray isnt even a proven format yet. HD-DVD has been beating it in quality tests. The PS3 will not have better graphics then the 360, while the Cell processor maybe a little better, but the 360 GPU has proven to superior. If you are banking on the wii...then youve made a pretty good choice
nice post there brad_millar, i live in south america and i heard questions like "Do you sleep in nets? What do you do about the monkeys?". hopefully the xbox 360 will come soon to brazil since it was announced at E3 that it would
Truth be told bdmckinley, I can't vouch for the other launch countries, but I can say that SA's launch has been on the cards since the original Xbox. I have been in contact with Microsoft SA employees over the years Xbox has been around and so I know Microsoft has been watching our market for a long time to see whether or not it was feasible for them to launch here. Who knows what the main reasons for the long wait were. The fact is I can assure you that our launch has nothing to do with any failure in Japan. Microsoft has been eyeing out other countries for a good long while and they are now making good on their promise.
Why do they choose 'NOW' to release the 360 in these countries. If they were bright at all they would have done this from the onset. Sounds to me like they are trying to gain market share they lost in Japan.
I have lived in South Africa my whole life. As news of our own launch here has spread I have been utterly amazed by some of the comments from a first world country. Derogatory phrases have been thrown left, right and centre by people who are clearly not very well educated on what goes on outside the US borders. Comments like: "we can't afford it, do we have power in our huts, we'll have to exchange our AK47s for 360's, we live in the bush." I find it hard to believe that a lot of people in the US of A think they're the only ones with running water, electricity, technology and built up city-scapes. We are not, in fact, living in the wild. Most of the wildlife in SA is viewed behind fences in game parks. If you look outside your window in Chicago or New York you will see the same things as you would here in South Africa. Bustling cities, skyscrapers, cars (believe it or not, lol) and a great variety of many different cultures - whites, blacks, asians, indians, etc, etc. We have the technology everybody else has barring the fact it arrives here a few months later most of the time. High definition screens, broadband internet, the new disc formats (scarce at mo) - blu-ray and hd-dvd, iPods et al, latest PC components, PVR decoders (Tivo as you call it), hell, we even watch Oprah... I have had the original Xbox since its launch in 2001 and purchased the Xbox 360 shortly after launch in the UK. A large number of other South Africans have used their initiative and done the same. I and other South Africans play Xbox Live regularly and have played against both those from the UK and the US. Heck there are a number of Xbox fan sites in SA - a favourite being the new www.xbox-360.co.za site that has a steadily growing community. The fact that the console is now officially launching here is just the cherry on top. If anything it is now going to make it an even bigger market in SA. So, please guys. Don't go making uneducated comments about fellow humans of this earth just because you happen to be a first world country. I made the effort of visiting your beautiful country three years ago and liked the people I met and the places I visited. Maybe if you made the same effort to follow in the footsteps of Tiger Woods, Danny Glover, Wesley Snipes, Bill Gates, Oprah Winfrey, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, John Travolta and family (who I happened to see at Shamwari Game Reserve) and a host of other people from other countries who enjoyed their stay here you would be pleasantly surprised. No one hates long posts as much as I do, but I felt it was best to give you a few thoughts from somebody who isn't normally seen on an American site (even though I follow a range of overseas sites just as ardently as yourselves). The flaming after this post will be inevitable, it's just a sad given. However, I hope that when you do in fact meet fellow Xboxers from South Africa on Live, you welcome them to this awesome console community with as much respect and friendliness as they will show you. Happy gaming! :-)

well yay good for these places that are getting the 360s now...and wut is with the annoying ppl who are like oooh a little late dont you think? why do you care..u already have one or is an idiot and say it sucks already cuz you dont like good gaming or ur a sony fanboy...moooo.....but ya that is great for these new places that are getting them..its better late then never.
We've all read about US gaming firms sub contracting to overseas studios. Those studios are probably smacking their lips at the chance to develop games in their own countries.
I don't know about S.Africa, either most of the kids don't have the money or they're involved in other "things"! In other words S.African kids whether white or Black are much more active throught the day then Americans. Unless MS decides to adjust to these country's currency I don't see them selling alot let alone taking market share.
not to be mean... but no one in czech that is from their can afford a 360... unless you are a gypsie... i mean my uncle basically bought a block in check for his office for a couple hundred bucks. he uses his office there as a huge tax right off and takes orders for anything i want there because he can get it for pocket change while it cost a few hundred bucks here...
"I thought that the 360 was everywhere already :S " Thats very ignorant. Maybe you are in junior high, in that case you are excused.
It's nice, but since the 360 is mostly an Online Gaming Machine, do these countries have access to high speed connection and to XBox Live? I doubt it. So this "expansion" is likely to fail... unless Microsoft begins to offer good "offline" games. I bought my 360 at lauch and I am still waiting for a real PS2/PS3 "killer" game. And looking at what's coming in the next few months, it's going to be a long, long wait.
