World of Warcraft: Dragonflight's next major update, which will take players into the game's fabled Emerald Dream, will arrive on November 7, Blizzard has announced.

Titled Guardians of the Dream, update 10.2 will introduce the Emerald Dream as a new zone for players to explore. The dream represents Azeroth as it would be in its natural, wild state, free of outside influence from the various humanoid races, and is a location fans have long thought could be the setting for an expansion in its own right.

As with any major update to Blizzard's MMORPG, a new raid will be coming, Amirdrassil, the Dream's Hope. The raid will kick off November 14 and takes place around and within a budding world tree, one that seems poised to become the new home of the night elves after Sylvanas and the Horde burned down their previous home during the events leading up to 2018's Battle for Azeroth expansion.

The update will additionally mark the beginning of a new PvP and Mythic+ dungeon season. Eight dungeons will enter the Mythic+ pool, with two of them being the Dawn of the Infinites mega-dungeon (albeit split into two parts) introduced as part of the game's 10.1.5 update. The remaining six dungeons continue the trend of Blizzard pulling dungeons from earlier expansions to keep things fresh, with two dungeons from Legion (Darkheart Thicket and Black Rook Hold), two from Battle for Azeroth (Waycrest Manor and Atal'Dazar), and one each from Warlords of Draenor (Everbloom) and Cataclysm (Throne of the Tides).

For those more interested in continuing Dragonflight's story, there will be new main story quests, both those related to the new raid as well the final leg of the Rebuilding of Tyr quest chain and an additional series of quests involving Wrathion and newfound ally Vyranoth as they look to bring other groups of dragons into the fold. Fans have speculated that update 10.2 could be the final major update for Dragonflight given the conclusion of some of its major storylines and other details from the game's public-test-realm, but fans will have to wait to find out for sure.

Guardians of the Dream will arrive just a few days after BlizzCon 2023, which ends on November 4 and is sure to feature major World of Warcraft-related news. Warcraft veteran Chris Metzen, recently returned to Blizzard full-time as an executive creative director, will be there to reveal what's next for the Warcraft franchise, and Blizzard president Mike Ybarra has already teased that out of all of Blizzard's franchises, Warcraft has the most news to share.
