Would you pay $55 for these new Xbox 360 controllers?

Microsoft reveals black and purple special edition Chrome Series wireless controllers coming to retailers worldwide next month.

Microsoft has announced new additions to its Xbox 360 special edition Chrome Series wireless controller lineup. Beginning next month, shoppers worldwide can grab new Chrome controllers in black and purple. The controllers will sell for $55.

The black controller will be available in the United States exclusively at Wal-Mart and the Microsoft Store. Meanwhile, you can get the purple controller in the U.S. through Best Buy and the Microsoft Store. Microsoft didn't say where the new black and purple Xbox 360 controllers will be available internationally.

Microsoft's Chrome Series already includes controllers in the following colors: gold, silver, blue, and red. The controllers feature the new transforming D-pad.

Like both colors, but why should I buy when there's hardly have locally multiplayer games to play with the system. local multiplayer games are extinct on Xbox and PS consoles.

Considering the prices of their controllers should have been dropped years ago and especially now that the Xbox One is out, hell no. 360 controllers should be going for no higher than 25 dollars new at this point. Same with PS3. Its amazingly greedy to charge the same price a decade later for an old controller model.

No way.  Because I'm saving up for the uber-sexy white XBox One controller.  So - there.  :-P

Yes but I already have 4 360 controllers so I don't see why I'd need to.

LOL are they coming up with new 360 stuff since there are not enough xbones to justify the man hours used for creating something for it.

If the d-pad is vastly improved, then I'd consider getting one. I dislike glossy finishes on most electronics, especially consoles and controllers. When the Xbox 360 S systems came in, I went as far to buy the 4gb model and a 250gb HDD because the 4gb model wasn't glossy like the 250gb model. Oh, and those hybrid gloss/matte finish consoles like the PS4 and the last of the PS2 slim models (which I happen to own both) look so tacky. Damn fingerprint/dust magnets.

Hope Im not the only one who hates how everything is super glossy attracts-fingerprints-like-a-magnet these days.

Hmmm if I buy one, I would wear gloves because I don't want to leave fingerprints on that shiny surface. looks good though.

Finally a controller to play Saints Row with!

Wow. They're mighty pretty. I don't think I'd actually be able to use them for gaming. The whole line-up would make me think of Power Rangers. Or something.....

Just one more thing; transforming D-pad???

mmmm fingerprints

@dz99ls  It's just another episode of War with Terrorism. Xbox scans your fingerprints and sends them to NSA HQ. For common good.

I really like that purple chrome controller. It would be nice to get a blue chrome controller and get these for the Xbox One.

55 USD is a bit too much for a last gen system

no thanks the controllers may be good quality but 3rd party battery packs are always a better buy honestly the offical ones seem to break so easily =S also MS its a bit late to be selling even more overpriced controllers

I have a MW3 and a Tomb Raider controller. Don't need any more.

I got an official xbox 360 controller like 6 months ago and it's practically falling apart. (I'm not rough with my controllers) The paint/skin whatever is chipping and falling off around the triggers and buttons. and the rechargeable battery lasts about an hour. New ones better hold up.

Depends! did they remake the analog sticks, so they last for more then 5 months?

I'd like to know why controllers for near ten year old hardware are still around the same price. Seriously, this is ridiculous.

themc_7

@Zork_Wesker  I agree 100% You can now by the console for the cost of 3 controllers. When everything else has gone down in price, how are controllers still selling at day one prices?

gamerboy100

@Zork_Wesker  The bigger question is why were controllers as expensive as brand new games in the first place, especially when they are as low quality as they are?

Spartan_418
Spartan_418

unfortunate that MS never tweaked the controller to remove that massive battery hump (until the Xbone controller, that is).

the 360 controller's ergonomics feel great until you notice the corners of the battery pack digging into your middle fingers

No. Shiny ANYTHING, should be made illegal. Making a controller shiny? NO, just no!

My laptop has shiny case where you rest your wrists. Which means I have to constantly clean it so it doesn't feel like the world is going to kill my dog.

It is even a pain in the ass making cars shiny. But obviously they are shiny for a reason.

the black one looks ok but they would probably get all smudgy so I don't think they are worth it. the old 360 controllers are fine and I have enough of those already.

Are they rechargeable?  Kind of an important thing to leave out of your article, Eddie.  Do your damn job.

the_real_VIP

@Thanatos2k  Not a single 360 controller is rechargeable off the shelf, idiot. They all come packed with 2 batteries.

Thanatos2k
Thanatos2k

@the_real_VIP Which is why it would have been important to note that fact when they unveil new controllers.

Controllers which it seems will continue to lag behind Playstation controllers that contain rechargeable batteries.
