Sony has announced that a new special Lego: The Hobbit PlayStation 3 bundle coming to North America this spring alongside the game. The $270 bundle includes a 500GB PS3 system and a copy of Lego: The Hobbit, which is based on the events of the first two Hobbit films from Peter Jackson.

Unfortunately, Sony did not share any images of the special Hobbit PS3 bundle as part of its announcement on the PlayStation Blog. But we'd have to guess that the packaging will feature popular Hobbit characters like Bilbo, Gandalf, and Thorin's Company of Dwarves.

Lego: The Hobbit is in development for Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, Wii U, 3DS, PC, and Mac. The game is set around the first two films of Jackson's Hobbit trilogy, An Unexpected Journey and Desolation of Smaug.

Playable characters include Bilbo Baggins and Gandalf the Grey, alongside all of the dwarves: Thorin, Fíli, Kíli, Óin, Glóin, Dwalin, Balin, Bifur, Bofur, Bombur, Dori, Nori, and Ori. In the game you'll be able to visit locations like Bag End, Hobbiton, The Misty Mountains, Goblin-town, Mirkwood, and Rivendell.
