World War II Online special edition goes gold

Strategy First will release a Readers' Choice edition of its online war simulation next month.

Strategy First and Playnet.com have announced that World War II Online Readers' Choice, a special edition of their online war simulation, has gone gold and will be available in stores next month. The special edition is a new version of the game that features a number of improvements, including new vehicles and weapons, new terrain, new objects and additional concealment for ground troops, a redesigned interface, and new mission launch lobbies. In addition, the game will include upgraded mission, rank, and strategic systems, new animations and control systems, improved performance and reliable connections, and a first-person shooter perspective.

The Readers' Choice edition will also come with a large foldout wall map of the battlefield, the official music track, and 20 illustrations and wallpaper images inspired by the game. The special edition of the game will be available in late July for an approximate retail price of $29.99.

World War II Online was developed by Cornered Rat Software and first launched in June. The massively multiplayer game lets players assume the role of a soldier in Europe during World War II. For more information about World War II Online, take a look at our previous coverage of the game.
