Wizardry 8 coming next month

Sirtech Canada has announced the official North American release date for its latest fantasy role-playing game, Wizardry 8. The game, which has been in development for more than four years, is scheduled for release on November 15. Sirtech, which had previously been looking for a publisher for the game, did not specify whether the game will be published in-house or by an outside publisher.

Wizardry 8 is the latest installment in the venerable Wizardry role-playing game series, which first appeared in the mid-'80s. In the game, players guide a small party of characters through a 3D fantasy world in an effort to retrieve a powerful artifact from the clutches of The Dark Savant, an evil character who has also appeared in previous Wizardry games. The game includes both phased and continuous combat modes, more than 100 different magic spells, 15 character classes, 11 playable races, and hundreds of monsters.
