Winning Eleven 6 coming to US

Konami announces that its best-selling soccer game, called Pro Evolution Soccer in Europe, is finally going to be released in North America.

Comments

Konami of America has today announced that the latest installment in its Winning Eleven series of soccer games will be released in North America in March next year. The Winning Eleven games (known as Pro Evolution Soccer in Europe) are the best-selling PS2 soccer games in Europe, ahead of EA Sports' FIFA series.

"Soccer fans around the world have declared Winning Eleven as their favorite soccer game. Now, North American soccer fans have a chance to see what they've been missing," said Robert Goff, product manager at Konami of America. "Winning Eleven elevates the genre to new levels with superior visuals and exciting gameplay, setting the standard by which all others will be judged."

Winning Eleven games have always featured a number of international teams alongside club teams appropriate to the territory. So, since Winning Eleven in Japan featured teams from the J-League, and the Pro Evolution Soccer games feature the top clubs from all over Europe, it seems likely that Konami will seek to include teams from the Major League Soccer league, perhaps alongside some top clubs from South America. We'll bring you more news on Winning Eleven 6 as it becomes available.
