Wild Arms, Arc the Lad Among the First of Sony's Newly Revealed Mobile Games

A look at what ForwardWorks has coming in 2017 and beyond.

Overnight in Japan, Sony offered new details on its new mobile game initiative, which it first revealed earlier this year.

During the event, ForwardWorks Beginning, the first games from recently founded Sony mobile game studio ForwardWorks were announced. The lineup consists of many existing Sony franchises, including some that haven't gotten a lot of attention in recent years.

As relayed on the Japanese PlayStation Twitter account, among the most exciting games are a pair of RPGs. A new Wild Arms is on the way to celebrate the series' 20-year anniversary, with members of the original development team working on the game. Similarly, a new Arc the Lad is coming from a staff that includes original Arc team members. Teasers for both of these can be seen in the video above.

Before we see either of those, ForwardWorks will release a new Hot Shots Golf in Japan sometime during Spring 2017. Following that at some point in 2017 is a new entry in the What Did I Do to Deserve This, My Lord series. Both of these games are confirmed for iOS and Android releases.

Other games announced during the show include PaRappa and Disgaea, as well a new IP. A collaboration with Square Enix was also confirmed, but no details were shared.

It's unknown if or when any of these games will make it out of Japan. When ForwardWorks and this mobiles games push were announced, Sony only spoke about offering games in Japan and Asia overall, though that doesn't mean they won't ever be brought to the West at some point.
