Wii U version of Deadpool game outed in retailer listing

Upcoming Deadpool game listed for Wii U platform on Amazon Canada.

by

Marvel action game Deadpool may be coming to the Wii U, according to a recent listing on the Amazon Canada website.

Marvel's verbose antihero is getting his own game.

The Deadpool game was first revealed by High Moon Studios during a Comic-Con panel last year, and was confirmed only for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC platforms.

The Amazon product page suggests a Nintendo Wii U version of the game may also be in the works, with the product showing an ESRB rating of Mature (17+) and an expected release date of December 31, 2013. No additional information is available. If true, the date may simply be a placeholder, with retailers often listing the last day of the year when no confirmed shipping date already exists.

An Activision representative confirmed to GameSpot AU that a Wii U version of Deadpool will not be launched in Australia, but was unable to comment on other territories. The publisher previously announced several preorder bonuses for fans, including extra in-game content and credits on specific Marvel graphic novels.

UPDATE: An Activision representative has confirmed with GameSpot there are currently no plans to bring Deadpool to the Wii U console.

The Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC versions of Deadpool will launch on June 25 this year.

Deadpool is coming to the Wii U, as are many other great titles.  If you don't own a Wii U and experienced the awesomeness of it and it's brilliant tablet controller, then you probably feel inclined to hate on it because it makes you feel better about not having one. In the long run, this system will be fine. Thanks Nintendo!!!

The Wii U does not deserve Deadpool.

Is this game made by Ubisoft?

Because if it isn't, it probably won't come out for Wii U whether it's listed or not.

Why did they have to make him a characature of himself? This is obviously for the 13-18yo crowd.

From what I've seen the game looks like it could be fun.

Then again the fact that no one's played a preview of this game is rather unsettling.

I think it's just sad that every time a game is announced for the Wii U, it gets its own news story.

K... Deadpool isn't that goofy.  Did he just motorboat a guy?

Deadpool has had terrible writing for the past 2-3 years, ever since he became more popular. I really hope they manage to make him funny again with this game since he used to be one of my favorites.

High moon studios did transformers justice.
I'm confident Deadpool will be filled with ass-kickery.
These seem like the type of guys that loved everything I did as a kid born in the 80's and it's reflected in their games.

My hope bounced back (sunk when I found out it was from Activision), that High Moon Studios (Transformers: War for Cybertron/Fall of Cybertron) is also behind it. You may never know... Might actually be good! MAYBE????

It's dire circumstances when the announcement of a game for the WiiU is some of the only good news it's had in quite sometime.

Deadpool is a vilain or a hero? I dont get it. And if he's a vilain then there should be Joker game.

Can we call it the "Mercy F*ck Edition"?

I kid, I kid. It's good to see the Wii U finally get some support.

The picture of Deadpool that Gamespot has chosen here subtly signifies that the Wii U version  will be inferior to that of other consoles. It will be "smaller".  Well played Gamespot, well played.

Some consoles go out with their heads held high.

Others awkwardly flail around until they're violently put down.

I guess we're seeing which one the Wii U is.

These types of retailer listings often don't mean much.

Whoever creates the listings might just assume that a multiplatform game is going to release for a whole bunch of platforms, and will list all the ones they can think of.

Activision likely didn't confirm anything regarding a Wii U version of Deadpool, though it'll probably happen anyway; history has shown that Kotick likes to release ports of a game on any and all platforms available, regardless of the quality of those ports.

Man, those "Mature Rating Laws" in Australia are no joke.

I will not believe it unless the game is released and actually on a shelf.

A game? On a Wii U? Must be a mistake.

This game is looking like crap to be honest no matter what system your interested in. It looks like a quick game to cash in on dead pools new found popularity. Which in my best guess was caused by the release of Marvel vs capcom 3 because before that not too many people knew of him. Anyway i would avoid this game though.

I hope the game is good like X-Men Origins Wolverine was.

@Gen007 Yeah. There's something very off about this game.

I like Deadpool and his voice actor (Nolan I believe) but they don't fit together imo.

He sounds so ...not funny and not Deadpool like.

"Vibes" may not be a good way to judge a game by but it usually works for me and this game is giving off the wrong vibes.

@Gen007 Activision has already fooled many idiots, but they didn't get any smarter. You're right.

This, so much this.

Also, Activision. There's your explanation.

@mr_azim @kerrman Right... because Micheal Richards, Jim Carrey or Chris Farley weren't ever funny. Goofiness is at the heart of most irony. Irony is at the center of most humor. :) Goofy is funny.
