Wii playable on Fusion Tour

"Columbus, Ohio, are you ready to Wii!?!?" Such a statement may elicit chuckles at a typical rock concert, but it will be met with raucous applause in just over a week.

Nintendo's "playing is believing" mantra for the Wii goes into full effect later this month on the Nintendo Fusion Tour. Though the anticipated console was previously announced to make an appearance on the nationwide concert series, today the company confirmed that the public will be able to play it.

The list of playable games (subject to change) includes Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam, Excite Truck, Wii Sports, and WarioWare: Smooth Moves. Nintendo has not stated how many Wii kiosks will be available at each stop. Also making an appearance will be the portable DS and games such as Elite Beat Agents.

The Nintendo Fusion Tour will hit 35 cities beginning September 27 in Columbus, Ohio. The concert series will be headlined by Hawthorne Heights and will feature the likes of Relient K, Emery, and Plain White T's. Tour dates can be found at the official Web site.

Nintendo has touted its upcoming console, the Wii, as something that skeptical gamers need to experience to appreciate. Apparently, they were right. At this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo attendees got hands-on experience with the system, and the postconvention buzz was deafening.

The Wii will go on sale in the United States on November 19 for $249.99.
