Wii Fit dated for Australia

Nintendo confirms Australian Wii Fit launch date of May 8; price set at A$149.95 ($137).

Heralded by Nintendo as being able to "turn your living room into your own personal gym," Wii Fit will be jogging its way into Australian retailers on May 8. The bundle includes a custom Wii Balance Board peripheral and software that will allow stereotypically sedentary gamers to perform over 40 different exercises across four different categories: balance games, yoga, muscle workouts, and aerobic exercises.

The board is also capable of giving users a detailed analysis of their body mass index (BMI) and calculating their centre of gravity. Like other Nintendo products such as Dr. Kawashima's Brain Training: How Old Is Your Brain for the DS handheld, completing Wii Fit tests and providing details about your body will provide you with a calculated Wii Fit Age, and it will also track and display your exercise progress.

The game includes an onscreen instructor designed to guide you through correct performance of exercises. However, Nintendo is determined not to make it all joyless hard work, and as such is including minigames that let you ski jump, balance on a tightrope, and return soccer balls using your head.

And in a rare occurrence, Australian Wii owners will actually receive this Wii game before the US. Wii Fit ships to US stores on May 19, and April 25 in the UK.

Wii Fit will be available in Aussie stores from May 8 at a recommended retail price of A$149.95

Actually, tyzwain, to expand on Nintendo Man's comments, down under gets it a lot worse than europe for console games. We not only wait for european localisation due to both Australia and New Zealand being on the PAL format, we also wait for shipping afterwards- which can sometimes put us as much as a month behind Europe. For things that can be directly imported from the USA, shipping and low prioritisation even still manages to get us behind Europe now and then.

Almost as bad as Europe? We get it worse all the time.

Wahey, atleast we can get a PAL version to import to Blighty :) Its good the Australians get it first - they get treated almost as bad as Europe.

150 bucks... I think I'll pass. Games are already expensive enough here.

Wow! It's cool that us Aussies are getting Wii Fit before the Americans, but guess what, they'll be getting it ALOT cheaper! Wii (pardon the pun) will have to shell out $150 bucks for this game (if you can call it a game), while Americans, will be getting it for around say...US$80! And yes, I know what you'll all say..."It's called economics" But I think them having a way bigger market so they can get it cheaper is appalling.

The interesting thing is the game is out 2 weeks after the UK like Mario Kart so expect the same with Brawl.

They are teasing us, they know we want Brawl, yet they won't set a date.

I was expecting it to be $10 more but no doubt those who are smart know that many retailers will be selling it for less.
