Wii, DS to take up Brothers in Arms
Ubisoft's military shooter series deploys a portable version this summer, then Double Times it to the Wii for fall.
In January, an Entertainment Software Rating Board listing tipped gamers off to the Brothers in Arms series' first excursion onto Nintendo platforms. Brothers in Arms War Stories on the Nintendo DS had been issued a rating of M for Mature, even though Ubisoft hadn't actually announced the game's existence.
Today Ubisoft and Gearbox Software officially unveiled the DS installment of their Brothers in Arms series, and did one better by announcing the series' Wii debut as well. Brothers in Arms DS will ship this summer, apparently without the War Stories tag, while Brothers in Arms Double Time is expected to arrive in the fall.
Each version of the game will feature adjustments to the Brothers in Arms action-strategy formula in order to take advantage of its platform. For instance, on the Wii, players will use the motion-sensitive controller to issue orders to their squadmates by mimicking hand gestures. In the DS edition, gamers can use the touch screen to aim, with the in-game camera following the movements of the stylus. Brothers in Arms DS will also include multiplayer modes for up to four gamers.
