Who should be on the cover of Madden NFL 15? Voting starts now

Options include Richard Sherman, Colin Kaepernick, Cam Newton, and Andrew Luck.

Which NFL athlete should be on the cover for EA Sports' upcoming professional football game, Madden NFL 15? You can help make the decision, as voting for this year's cover vote is now underway, pitting 16 NFL stars against each other for a shot to appear on the box.

You can vote once per day at ESPN.com/maddenvote. Voting takes place over the course of four rounds, the results of which will be announced every Thursday on NFL Live at 4 p.m. EDT on ESPN. The two finalists will appear at a special Los Angeles event on June 6, where one will be named the winner, and the other will go home.

First-round match-ups include:

  • Richard Sherman vs. Alshon Jeffery
  • Jimmy Graham vs. Eddie Lacy
  • Demaryius Thomas vs. Luke Kuechly
  • Colin Kaepernick vs. Nick Foles
  • Cam Newton vs. Antonio Brown
  • Jamaal Charles vs. A.J. Green
  • LeSean McCoy vs. T.Y. Hilton
  • Andrew Luck vs. Alfred Morris

Madden NFL 15 launches August 26 for Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation 4. EA is keeping fairly tight-lipped about what this year's game will offer compared to last year's special commemorative entry, Madden NFL 25. However, EA has said that Madden NFL 15 will introduce an "entirely new broadcast presentation" featuring new camera angles and "dynamic pre-game and halftime features." It will also place emphasis on defense.

Who should be on the cover?  Just depends who people want to be horribly cursed.

Kind of a joke, but a lot of people believe in the Madden curse.  I wonder how many people will vote for players based on who they don't want to be cursed next season in real life (so their least favorite player)?  At least they did a bracket to limit the choices, otherwise we might end up with a 3rd string Buccaneers lineman on the cover of the next Madden, due to curse fears.

How is the new one called 15 if the last one was 25?

Edit: looks at calendar year.

I dunno... how about JOHN MADDEN?!  It's his game, after all.  :P

Do they normally exclude both Super Bowl QBs?

I think girls scouts, because that's about how good Madden is anymore.  Actually I take that back, Girl Scouts don't deserve that.  Um....Well maybe the cover should be a Prius.  Yeah, a Prius would cover it.

Expect that Son of a Garbageman to win. Maybe he will tear his ACL during the season. Good enough for me.

The Eastern bracket is a joke imo.  Whoever comes out of the West will win and that side is really just a battle between Sherman and Kaepernick.  Just looking at the corners of the bracket it seems like they know the 4 choices they want (Kaep, Sherm, Luck, and Newt) and they made it so that all of them will showdown only in the last rounds.

Richard Sherman should get it because he is the best corner in the game, but also because I want that loudmouth to be cursed.

No need to vote.  Here you go:

Richard Sherman vs. Alshon Jeffery > Sherman
Jimmy Graham vs. Eddie Lacy > Graham
Demaryius Thomas vs. Luke Kuechly > Thomas
Colin Kaepernick vs. Nick Foles > Kaepernick
Cam Newton vs. Antonio Brown > Newton
Jamaal Charles vs. A.J. Green > Green
LeSean McCoy vs. T.Y. Hilton > McCoy
Andrew Luck vs. Alfred Morris > Luck

Sherman vs. Graham > Sherman
Thomas vs. Kapernick > Kapernick
Newton vs. Green > Newton
McCoy vs. Luck > Luck

Sherman vs. Kapernick > Sherman
Newton vs. Luck > Luck

Sherman vs. Luck > Sherman

Leaked info ftw.  It's all a showboat.

hey instead of a player how bout the the team that won the super bowls logo so the whole team gets recognition, but i still think it should be Russell Wilson hands down or Tom Brady, for getting to the AFC title game with no Welker or Defense to speak of

@Sevenizz  I dunno.  How do you go from XBox to XBox 360, to XBox One?

Isn't it obvious?  Companies today can't count.

@tomservo51  I know... this game stop being good a long time ago. That what happens when you allow a monopoly over a brand. Nobody can compete with a game they are not allowed to make using NFL properties.

@EasyComeEasyGo I would love to call him a terrible quarterback (being a Saints fan), but I feel sorry for the guy having to play without an o-line.

@Hagan With a focus on Defense supposedly they should go with Sherman. Hopefully the DBs play better at the line.
