THE BIG STUFF:

PS4 Returns to #1 Spot in US Hardware Sales During March: After being outsold by the Nintendo 3DS in March, Sony's new console took back the top spot, becoming the best-selling console for March in the United States, according to NPD data.

New Guitar Hero Revealed With Revamped Hardware and Online Music: Activision is getting the band back together. The publisher this week officially announced Guitar Hero Live, due out this fall for consoles alongside Rock Band 4. Get all the details here.

Star Wars: Battlefront -- Everything You Need to Know: Electronic Arts and developer DICE opened the floodgates this week for Star Wars: Battlefront. The game launches in November for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC--and it'll have 40-player multiplayer, female Stormtroopers, and so much more. Read more here.

THE OTHER STUFF:

Halo Online, the free-to-play PC game built for Russia, continues to look darn impressive. It was made using a modified version of the engine behind 2007's Halo 3, but that doesn't mean the game looks eight years old. Check out this video that shows off how great the game looks.

Did you enjoy Ubisoft's Child of Light? If you did, you'll probably be happy to learn that the the developer said this week that "very cool projects in process set in the Child of Light universe" are currently being explored. More news is expected "soon." Perhaps E3?

Did you know that San Francisco Giants infielder Matt Duffy loves Call of Duty? Not only does he enjoy Activision's shooter franchise, however, but he plays with his (enormous) cat on his lap. Seems about right. Here's a picture:

After three delays, gorgeous-looking racing game Project Cars has officially gone gold, meaning development has concluded. The game is due to launch in mid-May for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. The Wii U edition is due to launch sometime later, though a release date for this version has not been announced.

Developers who worked on the N64 classic Banjo-Kazooie are now making a spiritual successor--Project Ukulele--at their new studio, Playtonic. This week, the team published the first fully animated character model--and it's quite excellent, if not a bit horrifying.


Italy is getting a pretty excellent PlayStation 4 bundle that comes with a system and copies of The Last of Us Remastered, Bloodborne, and The Order: 1886. Will it come to the United States? Sony hasn't said yet, but you can cross your fingers and hope, at least. Read more about it here.

EliteGamingLive, a competitive gaming company, is looking to grow. The platform, which aims to give benefits regularly awarded to traditional athletes--such as interaction with teammates and coaches, among other things--to gamers. The group has gotten off the ground at a number of Indianopolis schools, but is looking to expand further. You can read more about the group and its efforts at the EliteGamingLive website.

Not only will Geralt's beard grow over time in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, but his face will change--potentially drastically--during the course of your playthrough. A new WWE 2K video game came out this week in the form of the first simulation-based WWE game for mobile platforms. Called WWE 2K, the game is available now on iOS and Android devices for $8.

Nintendo has announced a new partnership with GameTruck to bring exciting-sounding Wii U shooter Splatoon to the company's entire suite of trucks starting in June. The trucks, more than 100 in all, will start showing up across the country's major metropolitan areas in June, after the game arrives on May 29. You can get all the details here.

Here's a treat for your eyeballs--14 minutes of Project Cars on PS4 running at 1080p. Wow! The game arrives for PS4, Xbox One, and PC next month. A Wii U version is also in the works, but it probably won't look this good.

Mobile game developer Pocket Gems has released its latest game, a 3D RTS title for iPhone and iPad (with Apple Watch integration) called War Dragons. The game was built using the developers in-house Mantis Engine, which allows for 3D graphics and synchronous multiplayer, among other things. War Dragons features PvP and team-based battles. Gaikai boss Dave Perry, who now works for Sony following that company's acquisition of his three years ago, has written a blog post about why he thinks OnLive kicked the bucket. You can read his thoughts here.

As discovered by Kotaku, someone has beaten Obsidian's excellent--and big--RPG Pillars of Eternity in under 40 minutes. Watch the full video here.

Developers will soon be able to make New Nintendo 3DS games using the Unity game engine, according to Gamasutra. "Nintendo and its third-party developers will also have access to Unity platform support," the site writes.

Mortal Kombat X has crowned its first eSports champion. 17-year-old Dominique "cR|Sonic Fox" McLean dominated the competition (he lost only one game) at the ESL Mortal Kombat X Fatal 8 Tournament recently. Get the full story over at IGN.
