Weekly NPD PC game sales chart: January 4-10

Call of Duty is on point and the Sims bring up the rear, while Madden NFL 2004 reenters the game.

Comments

Another week, another top 10 list packed with Sims titles. It was the same old story this week on the NPD PC sales charts, with half the top slots occupied by installments of Electronic Arts' megapopular franchise. However, for the second week in a row, Call of Duty was the highest-ranking game. Good word of mouth kept Activision's decorated WWII shooter on point, despite its high retail price.

The two new additions to the list this week were two relatively old titles--Madden NFL 2004 and Sim City 4: Deluxe Edition. Both are also published by EA, giving the publisher seven of the week's 10 best-selling games.

Best-selling PC games for the week of January 4 to January 10, 2004:

Rank / Title / Publisher / Average Price
1 / Call of Duty / Activision / $43
2 / The Sims Deluxe / EA / $20
3 / The Sims: Makin' Magic / EA / $31
4 / Age of Mythology / Microsoft / $34
5 / The Sims Double Deluxe / EA / $39
6 / Madden NFL 2004* / EA / $21
7 / Zoo Tycoon: Complete Collection / Microsoft / $28
8 / SimCity 4: Deluxe Edition* / EA / $33
9 / The Sims: Superstar / EA / $29
10 / The Sims: Unleashed / EA / $28
