Watch Sharknado 2 on Xbox One With Syfy NOW App

Xbox One gets Syfy NOW and USA NOW apps.

You can now watch Sharknado 2: The Second One, Burn Notice, and other Syfy channel and USA Network content on your Xbox One with the Syfy NOW and USA NOW apps, parent company NBCUniversal has announced.

Xbox One owners who subscribe to one of the supported cable providers will be able to choose from a selection of movies and full episodes of shows, including Defiance, which is based on the free-to-play shooter MMO. The Syfy Now app also offers hundreds of clips including last week’s Defiance panel at San Diego Comic-Con and behind the scenes looks at shows like Dominion.

The apps are part NBCUniversal's TV Everywhere initiative, which aims to give consumers access to its content on more platforms, including consoles, desktops, tablets, and smartphones.

Microsoft said that Xbox One will also get apps for HBO Go, Showtime Anytime, and many others by the end of 2014. If you want to know what to expect, check out our full list of apps coming to Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

Is the Sharknado franchise like some type of cult classic or something?  I never saw the first movie as the whole concept seems corny to me and I'll never see the second movie for the same reason.  I have noticed however that marketing for this seems to be pretty strong.  I was seeing commercials for this all over the place, internet ads, the whole nine yards.  I mean it just strikes me as a cheesy B movie but for the amount of money it seems they're spending on marketing it I would have to assume it must have like a cult following or something to make that worth it?

No, the Microsoft Axe app is only available in the US.

Love the console. Don't really care for over hyped B Movies.

And here in Australia we have about 5 apps that are next to useless... I love my xbox one, but come on guys this is crap! Americans get everything and actually experience what the xbox one is all about but over here we dont get any of that... We may as well have PS4's because we can only play games.

DC Douglas is on that one. Albert Wesker + sharks, what else could you want?

It's bad enough that you need separate apps to stream each channel's shows, but the fact that the streaming still requires a cable TV subscription just shows that these guys aren't ready to provide serious competition for cord-cutters.  Man, I miss Aereo...

@theKSMM I had never heard of Aereo so I looked it up, interesting, I wonder what will come next with it.

@theKSMM Exactly. WTF is the point of streaming this through an app if you need a cable subscription anyway.

Guys I am here to officially announce my retirement from the playstation nation and have decided I will now be an Xtot.

I have just bought an X.bone and am having fun killing Bots on Titanfall and repeatedly slashing and shield bashing on Ryse, I am also looking forward to replaying Halo over and over and off course cannot wait to see how good Fable legends is and I am sure this one won't suck.

The cloud is real I have seen it in Titanfall and am super happy I will soon be able to give EA $30 a year for all their year old milked titles I missed out on.

I don't care Xbox One is weaker as we have Titanfall and it is amazing I barely have to have any skill and so can watch Sharknado at the same time thanks to the snap feature.

I am really looking foward to amazing games like Scalebound and Phantom dust I was really sold on the whole minute of CGI that these games will be amazing and because games like Sunset overdrive and Scalebound have hipster protagonists I feel I can truly relate too my Xbox One it is like having a super cool friend I can speak too it and it even helps me choose snacks thanks to the amazing ads.

Boy it sure is more fun on Xbox One now I will call you Ponies and continue to tell everyone how amazing Xbox One is instead off playing it because I am now Xbox Strong.

@sonyonly4 Lame, you will always be a pony, Second son should fill all your hipster needs, and you shouldn't need any other shooter since the PlayStation is the place to be if you like shooters, please, pleaaaaaase keep being a pony.

@sonyonly4 11/10

You get bonus points for mentioning the douchebag protagonists in Scalebound and Sunset Overdrive.

A tip of the hat to you sir

@StHapns247 @sonyonly4 Stupid comment is stupid.  Playstation Now is only for games and the prices in beta are considerably lower than they were in the alpha.  Just stahp.

@sonyonly4 I'm sure next generation Sharknado 2 will be available to stream for $4.99/min on Playstation Now.

Oh boy, another U.S.A exclusive feature added to a global console. Can't wait to not be able to use this one!!! You know MS, it's not like us Canadians are on another continent. We're right freakin' next door!

hystavito
hystavito

@bdrtfm Well I imagine if it was just up to MS they'd give us more, even SyFy and whatever networks would probably like to offer more to Canadians.  We don't know for sure, but remember there's a lot of legal issues with stuff like this, licensing for regions, and then on top you have CRTC regulations such as those regarding Canadian content.

Vylsith

@bdrtfm While the concept of sharks in a tornado might sound exciting, you can't really be upset about missing this one.  Seriously.  It would be like a cable company bragging about their new channel which features great movies like Killer Clowns from Outer Space and Biker Chicks from Mars.  There are good B movies and bad B movies.  This one ranks below Snakes On a Plane.  That should tell you something.

Sharknado 2: The Second One....have we gone completely brain dead?

Vylsith

@straightcur @nobledragoon I liked her Van Wilder. That's about it though.  How did they get enough money to pay for her to be in it?  I guess she could've been doing it for fun, kind of like Samuel L. Jackson in Snakes on a Plane.  Who knows...
