Ubisoft's Rayman platforming series celebrates its 20th anniversary this year. To celebrate the milestone, series creator Michel Ancel will play the first game in the series during a live broadcast on Twitch.

The event starts today, November 17, at 8 AM PST / 11 AM EST / 4 PM GMT, and will be streamed through Ubisoft's Twitch channel. Joined by other Ubisoft Montpellier developers, Ancel will play the 1995 original Rayman and answer fan questions during the broadcast. The game was released for the original PlayStation, Sega Saturn, and Atari Jaguar. Ports were later released on PlayStation Network and other digital platforms.

We'll update this post with the Twitch player embedded once the show begins.

In a statement, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said Rayman as a franchise is "still going strong" after two decades. In that time, Ubisoft has sold 28 million copies of the numerous Rayman games, which are known for their unique puzzles and colorful visuals.

The most recent Rayman game is Rayman Adventures, which launched in October for Apple TV. The game is set to release for iOS and Android devices on December 3.

Ancel created the Rayman series alongside Frederic Houde. The franchise has since expanded with Raving Rabbids, a spinoff from Rayman. In addition, the Rayman franchise is known for the UbiArt Framework engine, which powers Rayman Adventures, as well as Rayman Legends and Rayman Origins.

Ubisoft also created a special 20th anniversary Rayman infographic, which you can see here. Ancel is still technically a Ubisoft employee, though he has also formed an independent studio that's working on Wild, a trippy-sounding game where you posses animals' bodies.
