Lucasfilm has released a short video overview of how it created the most recent Star Wars arcade game, Star Wars: Battle Pod.

The 1,200 pound machine, which was created by Lucasfilm, Disney Interactive, and Bandai Namco, lets players experience iconic moments from the original Star Wars trilogy, including flying an X-wing in the Death Star trench run, a Snowspeeder in the Battle of Hoth, and a speeder bike through the forests of Endor.

The game hearkens back to a long tradition of Star Wars arcade games, the first of which was released in 1983. Battle Pod, of course, has modern graphics, a dome-shaped screen that makes you feel like you're in a cockpit of a ship, rumble, and more.

"It's exciting to work on a project that can only be used in an arcade. You can't bring an experience like that home because there are so many things going on," Lucasfilm associate producer Derek Williams.

In other Star Wars game news, DICE, which is developing Star Wars: Battlefront, recently released new concept art and details about the game, due to launch before Christmas 2015, sometime around the release of Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens.
