Watch GameSpot’s Tuesday live show, win big prizes

Our spiritual successor to On the Spot is officially called The Lobby! Stay tuned for more details on all the fabulous prizes we'll be giving away.

by

Starting THIS week, GameSpot is going to bring you The Lobby, a weekly live show where we'll play games, talk with developers, bring you news highlights, and give away awesome prizes.

What are those prizes going to be? Unfortunately, they're so big we can't tell you, but you'll be able to find out at exactly 12:05 PST on Tuesday.

The show itself will air every Tuesday at 2PM PST. And as GameSpot host Danny O’Dwyer explained on Twitter, it’s our spiritual successor to the On the Spot show, but with 100% more fine leather and rich mahogany.

Keep your eyes on GameSpot to learn more about the show and find out how you'll be able to win all of our fabulous gaming prizes.

HORRAY! Danny is the best personality on GS - include him more - and make sure he sings Toto's "Africa"

A Reaper in the background would've been awesome.

Hm, let me guess, in order to win said prizes we will be required to like Gamespot on facebook? Its a sad day for gaming if that's the case.

Looks like something a cat dragged into Polygon.

So please bring back On The Spot and the old Gamespot.

Sweet, now I'll have a reason to visit Gamespot like I use to.I was pretty upset when On the Spot went away and then pretty pissed when Fuse was taken away but this makes it a little better. Now if Fuse is ever brought back and reviews become much better, I'll visit as much as I use to; but I'm doubting that will happen.

Very Cool! And I'll take that big Fallout Brotherhood of Steel statue for a prize if you don't mind :D

Sounds like it will be a good show.

GameSpot fans of the 2002-2007 era are now on Giant Bomb. The modern GameSpot user doesn't care for this sort of thing.

Danny O' Dwyer should leave GameSpot and join Giant Bomb. This show would resonate better with Giant Bomb fans, than on GameSpot.

Is prizes only available to those in States? How about some love to Canada?

I will only watch it because of Danny. I will be really disappointed if europeans can't win the prizes.

What will the show be about??

Hmm, let me guess.

It will be about how great "Carolyn" is, and Titanfall.

I'll pass.

Gamespot used to be a good site, but that was a long time ago.

I miss the old On the Spot days. I'm not sure it'll be the same.

GameSpot to me for during the years of 2002-2007 was Jeff Gerstmann, the late-great Ryan Davis, Ryan MacDonald, Alex Navarro, Carrie Gouskos, Vinny Caravella, Brad Shoemaker, Justin Calvert, Tim Surette, Brendan Sinclair, Tor Thorson, Aaron Thomas, Rich Gallup, Greg Kasavin, Brain Eckbreg and Jason Ocampo (I maybe missing a few people).

The shows that defined GameSpot for me was Button Mashing, On The Spot, The HotSpot, GameSpotting, and all those user videos that the staff made on their profiles like Gerstmann's Points Report. Nowadays the only use that GameSpot has these days is just the news, but that's really starting to dwindle.

The only show you guys did that I used to watch religiously was the UK Podcast. The rest I watch when I remember them or they show up on the home page.

I'll watch your live shows, like E3 but most of the other stuff is too much of a time sink for the content it has. At least Feedbacula, The Point, Reality Check, The Waiting Game are short and don't take up several hours of my day.

@Anigmar  You clearly don't remember when On The Spot was on at midnight in the UK and Ireland!

@Stebsis  Don't worry, we've got a crapton of international-friendly prizes up for grabs in the first episode. We love y'all!

@bfa1509  I can't comment on what the prizes are yet, but winning them will be very easy, and I'm 99% sure you won't have to like anything to take part.

Except yourself. You should like yourself.

@g1rldraco7  Maybe we can get Shaun or Maxwell to wish you a happy birthday then. ;)

@Mraou But GiantBomb is not all that great either. The thing that the fucking worse on that site is their delusional, idiotic fanboys, and their corrupt mods that ban anybody that post any criticism of that site.

When Patrick Klepick  join the site, it went downhill fast. A lot of fans criticize the guy for his annoying commentary on the BombCast and Quick Looks, and then the ban rate went up (like I said, the mods are corrupt).

@Mraou  I think it is more of a thing that the new GS staff just doesn't have the great personalities that the Golden Era of GS had. Chris Watters and Danny O'Dwyer are great. In my opinion, they are the closest we can get to the Rich Gallup, Carrie Gouskos, Greg Kasavin, Brian Ekberg, Jeff Gerstmann, Ryan Davis, Vinny Caravella, Brad Shoemaker, Alex Navarro, Bob Colayco, and Jody Robinson era. Watching all of them interact on shows and podcasts was so worth the time. I made it a point not to miss the live broadcasts back then. These days, if Danny and Chris aren't involved with live content, I don't really bother watching or going out of my way to see it.

@Mraou  Or Danny should just stay and you could as a lot of people have gone over to Giantbomb and watch their shows.

@chev7781  Why do you feel the use for the news at GS is dwindling? Asking for a friend.

@DigitalDame  Will any of the CMs eventually appear for some ol' fashioned shenanigans?

@Jacanuk @Mraou I do watch their shows! And I think Danny would be perfect for GiantBomb; he gets so much love from the GB fans and they all want him to come there. Look at the comments for the "Unprofessional Friday" he was on.

@Mraou @chev7781You sound like a fanboy that can't take opinions that you don't agree with. There's no such thing as perfect, fanboy, deal with it.

@Mraou Danny pissed me off when he mislead everyone when he said that Knack outsold SM3DW. Then again, GiantBomb is about half-ass journalism so i guess he would fit right in.
