Watch Dogs to get Stability and Performance Improvements in New Official Patch

Who watches the Watch Dogs?

Following the release of a user-created mod that significantly improved the visual quality of the PC version of Watch Dogs, Ubisoft has detailed the next official patch for its open-world hacking game.

The patch is for both PC and console, and it will bring a number of stability fixes and performance improvements to the game. The console versions of the patch deal primarily with game-breaking bugs, including a glitch that prevented players from progressing past 90 percent completion. It is available for the PS4 now, and it will launch for the PS3, 360, and One "within the next week."

The PC version of the Watch Dogs patch will launch "in the coming days," but it also addresses a broader range of problems, including addressing graphical bugs, improving stability, and increasing performance. Ubisoft is also improving graphics stability and fidelity.

Ubisoft has not yet commented on the previous user-created mod or the files that the creators unearthed within the game labeled "E3 2012 Bloom" and "E3 2012 Explosions," among others. But you can read the full list of improvements from the Ubisoft forums below:

Im on PC and my game updated yesterday. Stil lags while driving and poor performance. I dount know if the update was the real deal. Because it was only 74 mb? I have a nsuper High end PC.

It still randomly freezes on my computer. I thought disabling my Eyefinity would help,...nope. Still freezes. I honestly doubt they can fix it with a patch, because if the game has this many issues "out the box" then that means it's poorly coded.

I was happy to see support for my eyefinity out the box. But unhappy at how many of my Eyefinity/Nvidia Surround friends had to disable their other GPU's just to play this DX11 game. That defeats the purpose of having high end systems if we can't use all of our high end expensive toys.

Feel the need to ask; what was the six month delay for if there's still such prominent issues?

Does anyone know if this patch includes good game play?!

Fix the fact that in multiplayer npc cars just pop up in front of you on clear roads. One minute nothing there then split second later a car going slower pops up right in front. I can steer for the cars I see, but having one drop in front during a race when im leading is a joke!

This did absolutely nothing for me. Still get terrible FPS with more than capable specs. Argh

Don't bother, the PC community are working on fixes. Much more competent than UbiShaft.

Well, I know you should never pre-order games.  But it's starting to seem like you should wait a few weeks after release. More and more games are released full of bugs with not enough testing.   Only in the gaming industry can you get away with this.   Too many fanboys

there's only two things i want in the next patch/update the ability to malee (the cops can do it why not aiden) and improved vehicle controls one other issue they can't fix is the blandness of aiden such a boring character

Didn't run into these game breaking glitches but I do think driving controls need alil attention. I also would love to be able to shoot and drive and hack people while driving, I pass people with rich bank accounts and it would be nice to just hack from the car.

Love the game but it could use a bit of added features to help it along.

Just got my copy today and I was playing minutes ago.

I have a mid range PC and well it actually performed better than I had expected. between 60 and 30 fps on high settings and full screen.

But any improvements are welcome.

As for gameplay, I do find the driving a little bit wonky but I can cope with it. I find the rest okay so far.

Can they fix the driving?  I think all the cars I get into are really Robin Reliants........it's that single from wheel that is making things difficult.

PC specific fixes....incompetence at its best.

Don't mind serving us a half assed product and charging us 60$ for it...

Something tells me i won't be able to use the E3 effects mod after the patch lol

The patch comes out after I beat the game. Figures.

righteo! Still loving this game. played a few campaign missions last night, killed about 200 innocent bistandards, drove my car through countless bus stops and park benches... aw hellz yea.

Been taking my time with it which is working for me.

Can they fix the boring, repetitive gameplay?  Every mission is pretty much the same. Kill a bunch of guards, pull a few levers and escape from the police.  The story seems to be pretty much on rails too. ( granted I'm only in the middle of the second act but I get so bored its hard to keep playing)

Also, the soundtrack for this game is terrible.  I'm actually kinda mad at myself for buying this game when I find AC games extremely boring as well and this is even more boring than those games.

I need to stop falling for the hype this one was seriously overrated its like a generous 6.

SPBoss
SPBoss

They also need to add some additional content as an apology for releasing a game that plays like its an alpha/beta. I'm already bored of watchdogs because I was getting fps spikes from 5fps to 60fps. 'optimisation' yeah right

Funny how someone can put a line " This is PC only- Who Cares" and it makes it out in public. Shows you how much QA was done for this game. I dont believe that companies are stupid enought to gimp PC versions of their game just to have parity with consoles graphics. But who Knows. If they think that way then they are dumb and deserve the bad publicity. In my mind, the game should be pushed to the absolute edge of quality possible on each consoles and on PC. But that line of code is very damning and damaging for UBI's rep. But the benefit of this is that now the company won't be able to " maybe gimp" the pc version of future games..

Ubi has got a lot of work to do to save face and their absolute silence over the last weeks is irrefutable proof of their guilt in this. They know they effed up bad on this one.

It should not be about consoles vs pc... it should be about quality of each product.  If you dont want to do a proper PC version then simply dont do it. simple as that.

anyone else bored by this game? I play it way less often then i did black flag, i don't know what it is but I just can't get into it.

RyogaRod

Game continues to get better as I play it. I only have time to get in maybe 1-2 missions every other day so going to take me awhile. I'm curious to see how it will all end.

Sorry about your luck, PC people.  Rockstar hates you and now Ubisoft apparently hates you as well.  Perhaps it is your arrogant "master race" attitude that causes these companies to hate you.

WolfgarTheQuiet

@4blizzard Some people limit the game to 30fps, Now dont know if it fixes this for everyone. It helped me with slowdowns, then note i still use GTX 570 and only 6GB RAM.

ascendedmaster

@mikees1 this happens to me online sometimes, also players lag all over the place some matches.

oflow

@willjohnboy they also need to let Aiden shoot out of vehicles. The guys chasing him can but he cant.

The vehicle controls arent that bad for me.  I use the reverse throttle as the brake and its a lot easier to steer.

meowstan

I agree the car handling is real bad in this game. I take out everything in my path bc I can never turn. An addition to be able to drift like GTA has would make things 100% better!

@VakarianGirl I'm waiting for a modder to put in Delboy's yellow van; the amazing Reliant Regal.

SingletreeAve

Yeah, and they also behave like a big electro-magnet that attracts pursuing vehicles from blocks away in a couple seconds.  Watch Dogs take rubber-band AI to a new level,  I nominate it for Laziest Video Game Feature Design of the Year award.

meowstan
meowstan

Thank god I'm not the only one salty about the soundtrack, it's SO bad! I never realized how much music in a game mattered until I realized how awful it is on watch dogs!

And the gameplay is a bit repetitive, I don't mind it but it is definitely a play for an hour and stop bc if u play mission after mission it gets really repetive and boring!

VakarianGirl
VakarianGirl

@oflow But......but......surely you mean HACK a few levers?!?

'Cause holding X gives such an edgy slant to the game, dawg.

-_-

meowstan

Like Royga said, it def gets alil better later on. It is pretty repetitive but the story and missions get more interesting later in the game. Believe me I bought it played 3 missions then didn't play again for like a week....it just didn't keep my attention. But, it does get alil better and fun as you progress.

RyogaRod
RyogaRod

@chieflion Keep going. I was kind of bored with it myself. It starts getting better as you progress. Also remember to update your hacks, combat skills, etc.

@fredwilkins  Actually they LOVE pc gamers, because they know they can release a half-assed version and pc gamers will still buy it up.

SingletreeAve

What?  They hate me after all the coin I''ve dropped on Ubisoft console and PC games over the years?  Why?  I thought we were at least friends.  Is it becuase I'm not French?

shadow580

@fredwilkins you are too ignorant to figure this out yourself so I'll help you. These ''master race'' dudes you're talking about are the same as the console fanboys you see all the time. For every 100 people out there, only 1 will bother to go online and start flaming everybody and have some sort of a superiority complex. Game developers/publishers don't care about this 1 percent.

Hate us ! LMFAO this kind of development shows that they are too lazy to optimize the game and leaving all the hard work on the hardware's end to decode

@Dareitus @Benficafan_101 it updated for me on uplay like hours ago.so yes its out..a 40mb patch that didnt fix anything for me atleast still stutter fest

@meowstan I really have to agree here, the sound track in this game is brutally bad, I swear the game is punishing me for my purchase. Idk how many times I have disabled automatic radio playback in the settings and it keeps changing back. There's maybe like 2 or 3 okay songs that I've heard and the rest is are much worse than what mainstream radio even plays. I swear it's like they thought only females were going to play the game. I think I need a job at Ubisoft, I'd be like a dwarf among midgets there. FIX THE STUTTERING UBISOFT. I have freakin over 11 Tflops of gpu power, there is no excuse for this. I'm only using a little over 3 gb of my 4 gb of video ram and it still stutters while driving. I am never buying a Ubisoft game first day ever again. I AM DISSAPOINT

oflow

@meowstan ya i was hoping there was some kind of way to play my own music.

What really surprised me is they dont really even have any house music.

I know chitown is famous for blues/jazz but in modern times they are famous for house.

I dunno for as much hype as this game got for so much time, I was expecting a lot more, like maybe an actual interactive story with different options that change as you go thru it.

Honestly, I like Ryse a lot better than this game and people seriously bashed Ryse but heaped all kind of praised on this snoozefest.

willjohnboy

@meowstan lol yeah the music is terrible i only like one song the alice cooper song that's it it's like the game designers just hit the random button

brewskimi

@consumed_chaos @fredwilkins "Lazy" as you have dubbed them is more along the lines of "cost vs. benefit" for them.    The majority of you hardcore PC gamers have a console system and already own GTA. They've made their $60 of revenue from you. Releasing on the PC won't change that, it will only change what platform you buy it for.

meowstan
meowstan

Yes! And for getting such a lengthy delay and all the hype you would think the game would be better. I like it but, there are a lot of Minor details that could have been added to make it shine. And as it stands now it's just and okay game with a good concept which wasn't executed well, it's a shame.

meowstan
meowstan

Oflow I totally agree with you, since it's such a modern game about technology I was certain the soundtrack would be a lot of techno, house, dance, and some other genres tossed in but it's all terrible like alternative music, not that alternative is bad they just chose bad songs!

And yes, I loved Ryse I don't know why people were so harsh on that game. Sure it got a bit repetitive but it was a gorgeous game with a decent story and overall pretty fun!

And I'm learning to just assume games that get a lot of hype are over compensating for something. I do like Watch Dogs I enjoyed playing it but it could have been SO much better if Ubisoft would have taken the like 7 months they delayed it and really added in small details. It's just a shame.
