Watch Dogs PS4 will run at 1080p and 60fps, says Sony

Sony writes that 1080p 60fps for Watch Dogs is something "that only the PS4 can provide".

by

Sony has said that the PlayStation 4 version of Watch Dogs will run in 1080p at 60 frames per second.

"Hack everything as you make your way through Chicago’s underground as you experience Watch Dogs in a way that only PS4 can provide," wrote Sony on PlayStation.com, "at 60 frames per second in 1080p.”

The site also adds that the game's four exclusive PlayStation missions are timed exclusives that will also be available on PC. The PlayStation content also comes with a white suit and a hacking boost pack.

Ubisoft has previously announced a partnership with Nvidia to ensure the PC version features all sorts of whizzy modern tech.

Watch Dogs will be released for PS4, Xbox One, PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 on May 27. A Wii U version is also on the way, scheduled for release later in 2014.

I don't give a shit if it's running at 30fps or 60fps that won't make the game the only thing that counts is game play and story that's it

Sony will try and act as though they're better than Microsoft but constantly lies about everything concerning their console. "Supercharged PC" NOT!!

They took it down to not hurt the feelings of Xbox One owners

Try to keep up, Gamespot.  Every other gaming site has already reported that Sony pulled down that claim.

This is let down but still getting PS4 version i just have to bare the not very playable 30 FPS :(

It's all a lie. If you believed this console would be able to run 1080p/60 FPS... you are sucking the teet of Sony... I mean seriously if Drive Club couldn't pull 60 fps or even Killzone what made people believe this game will...

Optimization? Haha, just propaganda...

Bring out the specs, Ubisoft. This is setting up nicely for some crow :). X1 better pray their specs at least match PS4, because if not, it is gonna be fun

why is it always 30 and 60 fps, cant consoles seriously run even at 40 or 50 thats much better than choppy 30 fps

I play pretty much every game I desire through Gamefly, but the bonus PS4 exclusive content is only accessible if you actually purchase the game, but I may elect to keep this game if it lives up to the hype. The next must own will have to be the PS4 Ultimate Evil edition of Diablo 3 in August.

Beaten, came here to post that Sony removed the 1080p/60 FPS part, looks like 30 FPS as per Ubisoft way back in September still stands.

That must have been one hell of an awkward email from Ubi to Sony marketing.

Update: The 1080p and 60FPS text on Sony's website has been removed.

it was already announced that ubisoft says that 60fps isnt the case but rather 30. another case of sce outright lying to hype their products, not that they really have to considering that theyre in the lead.

FretsOfDeath

so, basically this admits that the delay of the game was for graphical improvement, since prior to the original release date last year, it was said to run only at 720p and 30fps

lol....just the fact you used the PC version at E3 last year, to sell and show it off as the PS4 version tells me differently.

I will take this with a big grain of salt until digital foundry test this with their professional equipment.

@lonesamurai1 hah, yea.  Neither console can hold a candle to even a moderately powerful gaming PC.  However, that doesn't stop me from enjoying the consolidated experience that a console provides.  I have a PS3, but it's been a bit disappointing for games, from my perspective.  While i have a select few amazing titles on my PS3, i have a bookshelf lined with fantastic titles on my X360.  While the PS4 may be more powerful than the X1, already i'm seeing the same pattern emerging game wise.

E3 will tell the story.

@wezkilla  Some games have unlocked framerates, others give you the option to play locked or unlocked.  Those games are in the minority, though.  Some good, recent examples of games with framerates in between 30 and 60 are the 360 versions of Dark Souls 2 (I don't know about post-patch) and Titanfall.  DS 2's framerate can fluctuate up to 40 and Titanfall averages 46.5 fps.

When specs do come out, Xbots better pray to God they at least match PS4 :). I'm gonna have a field day if they don't ;P

Delaying a game to work on it longer and make it better is a bad thing? When did this become a thing?

@FretsOfDeath Graphics, dialogue, animation variety, city density... they took the time to drive development further in all areas. I for one am extremely grateful that they took the time. Probably would have sold like hotcakes at launch regardless of quality.

@Stevo_the_gamer @KimCheeWarriorXWell that "mistake" just made IGN a ton of money (they have over 12000 comments on their article because of it).

looks like you wont be buying the game at all then...because all versions require Uplay.

@vivvianni Where is your source of MS lying about anything Xbox? Seems to me they tend to be the opposite of Sony and are transparent to a fault.

@domisbatman http://ps4daily.com/2013/06/sony-changed-playstation-4-drm-policy-after-xbox-one-outrage/ , http://www.polygon.com/2013/6/26/4465674/sce-japan-heads-discuss-the-ps4-e3-and-the-near-future , http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/06/26/sony-sacrificed-the-playstation-4-camera-to-beat-microsoft-on-price , http://www.geek.com/games/drm-for-the-ps4-arrives-in-the-form-of-account-locked-psn-games-1574067/ Those are just a few links to articles on DRM. I think its pretty safe to say hindsight is 20/20 and Yoshida isn't going to cop to 100% saying they were going full DRM like MS but they were close. And the last article pertains to DRM that is on the PS4 right now, so uh better get to tossing those consoles out or better yet ship them to me. I have an AR-15 and I need something cool to shoot at and destroy, that is of course after I light them on fire then p!ss on them to put the fire out.

PosiTVEMinD355
PosiTVEMinD355

@domisbatman A Controller with an unnecessary blue light that has no "off" switch is proof enough that the console was going to be bundled with the camera like the X1.

Although there have been no mentions of DRM, you can bet your ass that if the public wasn't so against what MS was doing, Sony would have done the exact same thing.

@demonkingx5 lol. That sounds awful! I would rather endure Chinese water-torture then download a client that consolidates software downloads into one convenient location. *Jumps into a tar pit*

demonkingx5
demonkingx5

@origkillmachine @demonkingx5 @tableofjapan  ok fine lets allow all pubs to require you to install their each & own DRM service on your PC when u buy their games on steam which is already DRM see how you like it then face palm

demonkingx5
demonkingx5

@tableofjapan @demonkingx5  um no where does it say in the PS store version of watch dogs or on the Box does it say Uplay is required to be installed on your PS4 ? no where but on the steam store it is required i can play this game on my I5 4670K & GTX 760 fine i refues to support DRM on top of DRM at least EA had the courage to remove all their latest games from steam & use their own platform unlike ubisoft who are leeches who uses steam.

tableofjapan
tableofjapan

@demonkingx5

It actually will be apart of it but...keep telling yourself other wise.

And if your not buying the PS4 version because of Uplay, but are getting the PC version...hate to break it to you but..Uplay IS required for the PC version to even play it. SO you are ether going to buy it or just wait for a cracked version to pirate it.

It really doesn't hurt to go into google and type in Watchdogs, Uplay and do some proper research.

=)

@tableofjapan @demonkingx5  um No Uplay won't be installed on my PS4 -_- if i buy it i won't need to install Uplay to play it misinformed

origkillmachine

@tableofjapan @demonkingx5Uplay on console amounts to an app that nobody uses. I wouldn't even be able to tell you why people hate it so much, it basically doesn't exist in my universe.
