Might be time to upgrade your rig.

by

The PC version of Watch Dogs is now available to preorder from Steam, which also posted the game’s minimum and recommended system requirements.

Minimum:

  • OS: Windows Vista (SP2), Windows 7 (SP1) or Windows 8 (Please note that we only support 64 bit OSs.)
  • Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad Q8400 @ 2.66Ghz or AMD Phenom II X4 940 @ 3.0Ghz
  • Memory: 6 GB RAM
  • Graphics: DirectX 11 graphics card with 1 GB Video RAM - Nvidia Geforce GTX 460 or AMD Radeon HD 5770
  • DirectX: Version 11
  • Hard Drive: 25 GB available space
  • Sound Card: DirectX 9.0c Compatible Sound Card with Latest Drivers

Recommended:

  • OS: Windows Vista (SP2), Windows 7 (SP1) or Windows 8 (Please note that we only support 64 bit OSs.)
  • Processor: Eight core - Intel Core i7-3770 @3.5 GHz or AMD FX-8350 X8 @ 4 GHz
  • Memory: 8 GB RAM
  • Graphics: DirectX 11 graphics card with 2 GB Video RAM - Nvidia Geforce GTX 560 ti or AMD Radeon HD 7850
  • DirectX: Version 11
  • Hard Drive: 25 GB available space
  • Sound Card: DirectX 9.0c Compatible Sound Card with Latest Drivers

The recommended system requirements are a little demanding (especially that CPU), and pretty close to the “ultra” specifications that leaked last year.

You can preorder the regular version of the game for $60, or get the Digital Deluxe Edition for $70 and get some bonus content. It includes the White Hat Hacker Suit and four missions that add up to an hour of additional gameplay, which on consoles are exclusive to PlayStation 4.

Watch Dogs launches May 27 for Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PC. The Wii U version will come sometime later.

Fuck!! I guess there will be a RAM fix developed by someone, like in the case of Call Of Duty Ghosts. Otherwise despite meeting all other recommended requirements I'll fall short in memory by 2 GB, and I definitely do not want to miss this game.

What's with the silly processor recommendation? I have an i5-4670K and a GTX 770, you telling me I won't be able to play this maxed out, smoothly?

At least the PS4 version will include the bonus content

Nice! I'm gonna love playing this on max settings on my PC. I just hope that all that "chance to dream" talk wasn't just hot air. Especially since the devs were referring to the PS4 in terms of power with that statement.

guess the GTX 680 will handle it with a smile in the face?

Man PC gaming is so expensive. Hope the resolution is worth the cost.

What a lazy port to PC. Specs are way too high for this game.

And it is official now, this has uPlay DRM, so the little interest I had in buying this is now gone.

Too bad for UbiSoft, but if they insist on their disfunctional DRM client as a requirement, so be it.

I am not willing to spend money on something that may or may not work, depending on their competence to keep their service available.

To those that do buy it or have already bought it, have fun not being able to play it in the first 2 weeks after launch due to their servers being unavailable and enjoy uPlay screwing up your cloud saves about once per month, wiping all progress.

Perhaps I'll pick it up in a year or two for around 7,50 EUR in a sale and apply a "Patch" that gets rid of uPlay DRM and account requirement if I really feel the need to try out the singleplayer part at some point, but I think I'll just be ignoring it altogether, there's enough other games out there without silly extra DRM requirement.

GPU = checked, RAM = I have 6 GB only, CPU = not sure, I have i7 @ 2.95 Ghz (877) not even sure how many cores I have lol. , If this game runs at high on my rig I will be happy.

Is an Nvidia GTX 765M with 2GB GDDR5 dedicated video RAM better than the GTX 560ti with 2GB video RAM?

Forgive my ignorance, I'm not on top of hardware specs. The recommended specs seem kinda steep, especially the processor. I have a quad core i7 4700HQ (it says 8-way processing performance). It's 2.3Ghz with Turbo Boost to 3.4Ghz.

The rest of the stuff I got covered... 8GB's of RAM, Windows 8.1, a TB hdd ect...

Is my processor and graphics card good enough for this?

solidsnake7882
solidsnake7882

Damn auto correct. It should say quad core i7 16gb ddr3 ram plenty of hdd space and a superclocked evga gtx 570 win 8.1 64. Can I run it?.

I have a quad core is 2.67 gas 16th dark ram plenty of had space and a superclocked Eva god 570 win 8.1 64. Can I run it?

I'm good to go.... 60fps, for the next five years at least. This game looks sick, already preordered.

Oh and need I mention the 50 inch 1080p monitor,.. only because I'm vain. Opps, you just drooled a little.

I just recently got back into PC gaming, and this is the first new release I've been looking forward to. The demanding specs and the fact that it was developed for both the next-gen consoles and PC leads me to believe this will be a pretty solid game.

Man I can't wait to get my hands on this game!!! What y'all think of the game on PC? ..graphics and speed

VenkmanPHD
VenkmanPHD

Once again, my new 500$ PC can't run the new game. Not unless I upgrade my video card, my power supply, and my CPU.

But my ps4 and my X1 can.

Remind me again how consoles are going away?

thermalmotion
thermalmotion

Nvidia PhysX is amazing, I've been messing with it in Maya and Unreal Engine 4. It allows for insane dynamic simulations like cloth, hair, and interactive particles.... but requires serious processing power. So yes, if you want to see the new tech, you'll need the power for it.

nl_skipper

@adub424  Only if you NEED to have max settings on every game...  it's not like you need to keep upgrading every year just to play the games.

solidsnake7882
solidsnake7882

It is no more dysfunctional than steam or origin I don't see an issue here. And um most games have dry except for anything made by gog or cdproject.

solidsnake7882
solidsnake7882

Not at max but yes and it should still look great.

Boogy32
Boogy32

@Karmazyn  Well it's an i7, so you probably have 4 cores. Whether or not there's hyperthreading, I really can't say. Hyperthreading is responsible for the remaining 4 cores, in the recommended specs.
But that 2.95 GHz is definitely below the recommended specs.

560ti or 650ti boost is better than your laptop's gpu

solidsnake7882

That's a mobile card and most games don't run the best on mobile versions I'd say a cautious maybe.

@solidsnake7882

Console games will never go away. PC Games will never go away.

Both rack in millions (billions?) of dollars every year. Kind of a silly arguement to begin with.
