Watch 30 Minutes of Metal Gear Solid 5 Gameplay on PS4

Konami releases 30-minute gameplay demo showing off upcoming game The Phantom Pain.

[UPDATE] We now have the full video, which you can watch above.

The original story is below.

We've already published our thoughts on the 30-minute Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain demo, but now you can watch the extended video right now, courtesy of the Konami Station. Gameplay starts at 50:08.

The video shows off the Phantom Pain's characters, dynamic weather system, weapons, stealth maneuvers, and a new system through which cutscenes seamlessly transition to gameplay. A Konami developer says the footage is captured on PlayStation 4 and is running at 1080p/60fps.

We won't spoil too much; watch the full clip right now in the video above!

The Phantom Pain is the sequel to this year's Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes. The game is described as open-world, but you shouldn't think of The Phantom Pain as being in the same style of Rockstar Games' acclaimed title Grand Theft Auto V, according to Kojima.

It would be the shit if you could invade other peoples mother base

Fearing the fact they've adopted an open world. It could do wonders or really damage it.

I'm so happy they've finally added corner takedowns to the series (bare in mind that I haven't played Ground Zeroes yet), and Mother Base is looking like a pretty cool feature. Really hoping there's going to be some kind of climatic shoot-out on there.

Hahaha gawd, why do they keep trying to do the pretend "hand held cam" look?? As if there is some guy standing there next to them on their horses, floating around and above them all while wiggling his camera around? This series is so cheesy.

Ok, Ground Zeroes kind of disappointed me (for an MGS game). This looks excellent but the scale could be annoying. Could I play for 20-30 minutes, save the game and come back to where I was (say the "A" custom marker) later?

Sod the customised base, do I get my own watermelon?

Now this is how you do a gameplay video from now on. Very well explained and structured and the player knows his game unlike some idiots that do gameplay vids.

I really enjoyed this video.

So the enemies cant see the items coming across the Sky?

And shoots the enemies in the head.  But still cry out when he attaches the Balloon?

Congratulations. You have achieved now what RDR achieved years ago :)

It's going to be torture waiting for this game to finally release.

Holiday 2015 if we are lucky.

This stream looks absolutely abysmal in terms of quality.  I'll wait for the demo, or just buy the game.

The Fulton STARS seems to be getting horribly overused in this demo

stealth horse? I mean he got pretty near and the npcs never even turned to look at it........

I saw a picture of this game as a thumbnail on GS and thought RDR had been announced on pc and next gen......too bad.

I wonder if you can Fulton horse poop?

I think this game looks really great so far.  The character movements look less rigid than past releases which is exciting.

And this is why MGS is one of my favorite series, the creativity in dispatching foes. I remember back in the day when I would play MGS3 and destroyed all the food caches so the soldiers would starve. My favorite was throwing food out (or a nudie mag) and then setting them on fire :D

Is this a 2015 release? Since Ground Zero came out this year, it seems like thats the idea they plan on doing. Anyone know?

That's an incredible amount of pop-in. Wow.

Impressive but I am still concerned with the number of enemies in missions. Ground Zeroes felt like it had too many enemies all around the map, and the mission shown here seems to have a lot of enemies as well. Guess I may have to get use to that.

The vehicle handling and suspension physics look incredible. Not too many games put enough emphasis on this.

Games gonna be incredible. Ground zeroes already confirmed it to me, I don't even need to watch this. But I will anyway!

@cynicritic What? I'm pretty sure RDR didn't involve infiltrating soviet bases, driving jeeps, capturing enemies and calling in airstrikes.

@Redsyrup Why would they do that when they can slap a well-known actor in the beginning credits?

Cryptic_Shadow

@anaplussetup I know, right!  Although it really doesn't really bother me all that much but it is a major concern knowing that this is next-gen architecture.  Is this the fault of the Fox Engine?  Can it handle super high res textures?  We figure pop-ins are an easy fix but I guess not.

@Jay2528 Are you kidding? GZ was deserted, esp on standard difficulty.

strrckshn

@merrickx @strrckshn But they still cry out? :))  I'm surprised the other enemies don't hear those cries too.

Jay2528
Jay2528

@unreal849 Deserted? Are you serious? The Ground Zeroes mission alone had about 40 enemies if you tagged them all regardless of difficulty. 40 enemies is a lot for just one mission in a stealth game.

@strrckshn That part of the game really isn't meant to be taken serious, its a fun little thing to do if you want to.
