Warcraft III tops charts again

Blizzard's real-time strategy game stays put at number one, while Maxis' virtual-life series accounts for no less than four of the top 10 sellers.

There has been no change in the top four of NPD's list of best-selling PC games this week. Blizzard's Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos is still out in front, while The Sims: Vacation, The Sims, and Neverwinter Nights have stayed in formation right behind it. The games in positions five through eight have been shuffled slightly, with Medal of Honor: Allied Assault and Backyard Baseball 2003 both moving up the list.

The games at the bottom of last week's chart, Starcraft: Battle Chest and the Warcraft III Collector's Edition, have moved aside to make way for the Hot Date and Livin' Large expansions packs for The Sims.

Best-selling PC games for the week of July 14-20, 2002:

Rank / Title / Publisher / Average Price
1 / Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos / Vivendi Universal / $58
2 / The Sims: Vacation / Electronic Arts / $29
3 / The Sims / Electronic Arts / $41
4 / Neverwinter Nights / Infogrames / $56
5 / Medal of Honor: Allied Assault / Electronic Arts / $46
