Warcraft III drops another race

Blizzard reduces the number of playable races from five to four and announces the official title--Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos.

Blizzard Entertainment has announced the official title of its upcoming 3D real-time strategy game--Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos. The game will feature four playable races instead of the previously announced five. Players will command the humans, orcs, undead, and night elves. The demon race, which was originally intended to be a playable race, will now interact with the other races and advance the storyline of the game.

When Warcraft III was first announced, it was going to feature six playable sides, but last June Blizzard confirmed that the game would have only five playable sides. The latest announcement states that the game will have four playable sides to let the developers focus on finalizing the units, AI, and campaigns.
