I'm not American and I have no problem with Black Friday as a concept, but isn't it kinda lame to open stores on the day of Thanksgiving itself? Like I would think that would be something a lot of people would have a problem with - and with good reason.

Black Flag and and Ghosts for $75 is right up my alley

definitely not worth it for me. I hate the lines and crowds of idiots.  I'll be waiting for the steam holiday sale from the comfort of my recliner

@mobywv WHAT? There's always one asshole in the bunch. AC4 and Ghosts right now are $120 and they are $75 on black friday and that is not mindblowing for titles that aren't even 2 weeks old?

Assassin's Creed IV @ $34 is the only intriguing one for me.

You know working on a holiday wouldn't be so bad if asshole companies would give you holiday pay on-top of your regular pay-but nooooo

Ddcooljoe
Ddcooljoe

@Fiendvinny I work at Target. We get time and a half for the 4 hours we work on Thanksgiving but normal pay after midnight. It's kind of dumb.

Toys r us doesn't pay for shit. Worked there 2 years. Not even full time employees get holiday as far as I know.

So where are the deals?  I see COD Ghost that's it.

I'm surprised Best Buy is not offering the EA games for $30.00 like they have in the past.  Still, $35.00 for BF4 is not bad.

Funny enough, a friend got Best Buy to match Target's B2G1.

Hmmmm cod ghosts for 40 isn't too bad. Eh, i'll pass still. Besides amazon usually have better deals anyway.

I feel badly for employees of those companies. Corporate greed has ruined their holidays. What will be next? Opening on Christmas Day? Shameful.

TheKokopelli
TheKokopelli

@ChiefFreeman It's supply and demand.  The stores are opening early, because they know people will come in.  Heck, a lot of people camp out for several days in front of the store.  Me personally?  I like my warm & comfy bed.

@ChiefFreeman There are reports that some grocery stores around me are going to be open on Christmas this year.  It's sad.

Zombrex

@ChiefFreeman It's not the companies fault people are willing to shop on those days. The demand is there, and they have to supply it as best as possible.

Damn, don't they know I can only be in one place at a time!?

@LS-Chaos Yes, they do and that's why they try to one up each other so that they will get your business.

If you want deals on gameing stuff, but you don't want to get trampled by some 300lb trailerpotamus, then wait for cyber monday. Word to your mother.

TheKokopelli
TheKokopelli

@MAL1C3_Inc That, or do a ship to store.  I've done that in the past with Best Buy, and since they usually have the item in stock, I can swing buy the following Monday, avoiding all the people.

vackillers

@MAL1C3_Inc Only problem is cyber monday doesn't have the same sales as black friday... and never as good....

That's some pretty decent deals. I think I'll stick with online stores though. I would rather spend Thanksgiving with my family than sitting outside a department store.

I don't care who you are, that 250GB Best Buy Xbox with all those games for $190 is a steal. Halo and Batman are both game of the year caliber games.

To the retail workers, if you don't like working nights, weekends and holidays and dealing with people then get a different job that doesn't require it.  You knew what you were getting when you took the job.  Sorry but I've got no sympathy.  I've worked retail and 9/10 the stress level is much lower than non-retail jobs.  But then I went and got my college degree so I didn't have to work ridiculous hours.  Still have to deal with plenty of idio... I mean people though.

njangu22

@dmastor @endorbr If you define being Republican as the belief that people should better their lives rather then complain, sit back and wait for a handout...

s1calisious11
s1calisious11

@njangu22 Who asked for a handout? I don't see any comments asking for a handout smh... spoken like a true republican.  Everyone has to work their way up. You speak as if you were born and started working a 9-5 job and never received assistance from anyone.. get real, republican.

endorbr

Not bad mouthing retail workers. Just those pissing and moaning that it's people like me's fault that they have to work Thanksgiving. Don't like your situation in life? Do something to change it instead of blaming others.

ashley_brandon
ashley_brandon

@s1calisious11 @endorbr And just to dispel these notions that you don't work in retail when having a degree.. I have a marketing degree and worked retail for 10 years. I was a manager, but I became manager way before my degree. Marketing degrees=retail after the economy collapse here in the US. Now I have a marketing office job....however....I made more money in retail. But Black Friday was always my favorite (time goes by quickly with all the hectic chaos)

zenomorph
zenomorph

@endorbr No one cares that you went to college, buddy. No need to badmouth people who will be working this Thanksgiving.

XaK2
XaK2

@endorbr They can piss and moan all they want. They have to spend their holiday break working just so people can save 10 dollars or so. Black Friday gets bigger every year. Considering you changed jobs and then got a degree, you've probably been out of retail for a few years now, so the Holiday Sales you probably dealt with were more than likely smaller than today's. Just look at the fact the stores like Best Buy are opening at 6 p.m. this year, while only last year they were opening up at midnight. Let them complain because imo they have a legitimate reason too and worry about your own problems.

s1calisious11
s1calisious11

@endorbr So basically you are ignorant to the fact that these stores didn't always open on Thanksgiving for black friday.  People who are currently working this black friday on Thanksgiving more than likely had the job before these stores decided to not just open early for black friday, but open the day before! Black Friday isn't a holiday sorry to break it to you.  So before you start to bash people working retail you should know, or at least have some factual information.  It's easy to say that when you have your degree already, but believe it or not you aren't the only person who has to go to college and get a job that doesn't require a degree; which will most likely be a retail/service job.  And it is quite obvious you are republican seeing that you are so detached from the "little guys" that you can't comprehend how unfair it is for people to have to worked on this holiday.  Nobody wants your sympathy either, it isn't worth anything.
