VU Games reorganizing again

North American president departs as company reorganizes operations to boost Blizzard, Sierra sales.

Despite an apparently strong showing in 2005, Vivendi Universal subsidiary VU Games is shuffling the deck. In one brief statement, the company announced that it would be reorganizing its global sales operations to boost sales of Blizzard and Sierra titles, and that Phil O'Neil, president and COO of VU Games' North American business, has left the company "to explore opportunities outside of VU Games."

As part of the reorganization, VU Games Australia's former managing director, Pascal Brochier, is being made the executive vice president of global sales, a position based out of Los Angeles. Brochier will supervise the company's global sales team and its Asian retail business. Vivendi did not specify how its reorganization would specifically benefit its Blizzard and Sierra titles, nor did it announce an interim or permanent replacement for O'Neil.

VU games needs to get a clue. For every good game they produce, there's 5 clunkers to go with it. Blizzard's the star of the group that's keeping the company in business, but you can only milk that so far.

It's apparently never enough for them. IMHO I don't really like VU Games at all...

VUG is my least favorite publisher. Every game I buy from them comes in like paper cases and black and white manuals (Fear, Tribes Vengeance, Wow), or even completely lacking a manual (Half Life 2). Its like they try to cut every corner and make it as cheap as possible. While companies like Activision have nice plastic cases (Quake 4, Doom 3, Call of Duty) and nice manuals.

The games should really sell themselves. I mean you can't blame someone for not being able to get us to buy a crappy game. Make SC3 and watch your sale boom, make another POS game and watch them drop.

How about spin-off the VU games into a separate stock where VU will be the largest shareholder. And we the gamers will buy the stock and harass the board until Starcraft 2 comes out.

I think that VU games is aware that they can't depend on the sales of WoW to survive. Even if WoW is a great game, they have to boost their other products. What I think is strange is that they fired their COO.

Doubling down on your strongest IPs? So much for innovation.

Blizzard needs a sales boost? I though that over 5 million copies of WOW would have been enough.

With WoW in their posession, how does VU need to boost sales for Blizzard?
