France-based publisher and distributor Pointsoft has announced that Vivisector: Beast Inside will be the first title published under its new Brigades label when it's released in the UK in October. Currently in development at Action Forms, Vivisector is a first-person shooter in which players assume the role of a Special Forces soldier named Kurt Robinson who has been ordered to quell a rebel force on the volcanic island of Soreo.

When Robinson arrives on Soreo, however, he finds an army of cybernetically altered beasts waiting for him there--the products of experiments conducted some 100 years earlier by a twisted genius named Dr. Morhead. The army comprises no less than 20 different types of enemies for players to do battle with, including "modbeast" foot soldiers, "humanimal" bipedal warriors, and "overbrute" boss characters.

Vivisector: Beast Inside will comprise a total of 24 levels for players to battle their way through, and as they progress through the game they'll be able to spend points on improving skills such as speed, resistance, aim stability, and health. Players will gain access to around 16 different weapons by the time they reach the end of the game, but no more specific details on Robinson's arsenal has been released at this time.

A North American release for Vivisector: Beast Inside has not been confirmed at this time, but we'll bring you more information as soon as it becomes available.
