Vivendi sings Bard's Tale's tune

VU Games to distribute InXile RPG remake in North America.

The classic role-playing game The Bard's Tale will soon be singing a new tune. VU Games announced it would be the North American distributor for developer and publisher InXile's remake of Tale, which hasn't been played by gamers since the 1990 NES edition. The deal is for all versions of the game, which will be released on the PC as well as "multiple console platforms," according to InXile. So far, only the PlayStation 2 version of the game has been confirmed.

Old-school gamers will remember The Bard's Tale from way back in 1985, when producer Brian Fargo first created the game for the Apple II computer. Tale was one of the most acclaimed RPG franchises of its day (alongside the Wizardry! and Ultima series) selling more than 1 million units worldwide.

InXile says its remake will be a "truly innovative action-RPG experience with witty dialogue, stunning graphics, and nonlinear gameplay."
