Chances are, if there's a big war, there's a war game based on it. The Vietnam War was the conflict du jour over the past few years, with several publishers pushing out first-person shooters based on the squabble. One of those PC games, Vietcong from 2K Games, actually survived the critical carpet bombing that other games didn't.

Earlier this year, 2K Games announced it would go back to the jungle with Vietcong 2. Developer Pteredon is once again handling the development and has scraped together a sampling of the multiplayer portion of the game, which is now available for download from GameSpot DLX.

In the demo, 64 players can simultaneously shoot it up over two maps, Trail and Depot. There are three multiplayer game types: capture the flag, deathmatch, and team deathmatch. The full version will let gamers play either side of the conflict. Furthermore, it will take place in both urban areas and in jungles, and it will feature drivable characters in the multiplayer mode.

Look for Vietcong 2 to emerge from hiding on October 10.
