This week was relatively quiet, with Dreamcast announcements coming only later in the week. In recent weeks, there's been Dreamcast-related news every week. Wonder what'll be announced next week…. In case this is your first visit to our news page this week, here's a rundown of what you may have missed.

Sega made news this week by announcing that VF3tb (Team Battle) and Sega Rally 2 are headed to the Dreamcast before the end of the year. The company also made headlines at JAMMA by showing off its first Dreamcast-compatible arcade unit called Naomi. Naomi is a Dreamcast console, somewhat supercharged, that will allow for better portability to the DC and VMS support.

In addition to Sega's Naomi news from JAMMA, we had a full rundown of the major games shown at the exhibition. That includes new games from Capcom and Konami and also some very Japanese games that will never show up in the US.

If it's Game Boy Color you're looking forward to, you'll want to take a look at these clearer shots of the games getting the color treatment. They include Metroid, Zelda, Wario Land II, and Tetris. The Game Boy Color comes out on October 21 in Japan and November 23 in the US.

Motorola announced its first Project X multimedia consumer electronics box. Called Blackbird, the machine combines a DVD player, game machine, Internet browser, and more into one at a low price. The first Blackbird machines are scheduled to hit US shelves in the first quarter of 1999.

Ridge Racer Type 4 keeps looking better and better. Namco released a new batch of shots showing off a new track for the game, as well as more information on the game's simulation mode.

On the Dreamcast front again, Climax's Blue Stinger is getting a lot of attention. This week, the company posted more screenshots of the game to its web page. If you haven't seen these new shots (which are taken directly from Dreamcast development hardware), and you're a fan of the Dreamcast, you're missing some great visuals.

Nintendo and Bensussen Deutsch and Associates have teamed up to create action figures based on the N64 title, Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time. These will be in stores when the game hits -check out the first look at Link.

Now that Nintendo has confirmed it is releasing the 4MB RAM upgrade, companies are lining up games to support it. Chief among them is Acclaim, who is bringing three titles out that use the cart - Extreme G 2, NFL Quarterback Club, and Turok 2.

That's it for this week! Stop by next week for more Dreamcast news as it happens on videogames.com. Enjoy the weekend!
