US PC game charts: May 7-13

Can anything stop the Sims phenomenon? Apparently not, this side of an asteroid sterilizing the Earth. Electronic Arts' ever-popular franchise once again lorded over the US PC game charts during the week of May 7-13. The top title was The Sims 2 Family Fun Stuff, a content add-on that brings various domestic items and gameplay aspects to The Sims 2. Despite being released around 18 months ago, the original Sims 2 was the sixth best-selling PC game of the week, just ahead of its Open for Business expansion.

Speaking of holdovers from November 2004, World of Warcraft was the number two game of the week, yet again showing the masses' desire to emigrate to Azeroth. It was followed by newcomer Guild Wars Factions, the first stand-alone expansion for NCsoft's free massively multiplayer online role-playing game.

The PC editions of two of the most popular Xbox 360 games were also represented. 2K Games and Bethesda Softworks' The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion continued to sell well, landing in fourth place. Ditto Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter from Ubisoft, which took the fifth slot.

Last but not least, it wouldn't be a PC top 10 without some real-time strategy titles, and the week of May 7 was no exception. The last three games on the list were all RTS games, with Rise of Nations: Rise of Legends conquering eighth place, Age of Empires III overrunning ninth, and Star Wars: Empire at War taking 10th.
