For months, games for the Nintendo DS have topped the bestseller lists in Japan, with brain-training games showing sustained popularity. Now that trend is being repeated across the Pacific. According to online sales figures reported to GameSpot by national retailer Best Buy, the two most popular games for the week of May 14 were both for Nintendo's dual-screen portable. New Super Mario Bros. was the number-one game, followed by Brain Age: Train Your Brain in Minutes a Day, which has remained in the top 10 since its release a month ago.

But while the DS ruled the roost at retailers this week, games for Nintendo's other platforms were nowhere to be found in the top 10. The remaining eight slots were split between Sony's current-generation console and Microsoft's next-gen machine. Places three through six were all Xbox 360 titles--The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter, The collector's edition of Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and Madden NFL 06. Behind the quartet was a trio of PlayStation 2 titles--Kingdom Hearts II (seventh), Madden NFL 2006 (eighth), and Genji Dawn of the Samurai (ninth). Finally, bringing up the rear was recurring favorite Call of Duty 2 for the Xbox 360.
