Strategy First announced today that Uplink: Hacker Elite has shipped to stores across North America. Uplink is a unique game that simulates the faceless, secretive world of hackers. The game begins by putting players in the role of an amateur hacker, who must break into low-security systems, steal information, delete files, and attempt to cover up any trace of his entry. As the player gains experience, more lucrative and dangerous missions are offered and more complex, high-security computer systems become the targets. Developed by Introversion, Uplink was previously released as an online download. Strategy First later picked up the publishing rights to distribute the game at retail outlets. Check out our previous coverage for a review and a demo of the game.
