Ubi Soft has today announced a rebate scheme for its forthcoming Chessmaster 9000 title, which will be arriving in stores on August 27. Under the offer, current owners of any previous Chessmaster title since the 4000 edition will receive a $10 rebate when they upgrade to Chessmaster 9000, which will be retailing for around $39.99.

"Since its launch in 1986, millions of chess lovers have taken advantage of Chessmaster's fun and comprehensive approach to the game of chess," said Tony Kee, vice president of marketing at Ubi Soft Entertainment. "This $10 rebate is a reward for our loyal Chessmaster fans who have supported the product through the years. With its outstanding new content and support for new operating systems, Chessmaster 9000 is sure to please both chess beginners and veterans alike."

To receive the $10 rebate, customers will need to mail in a Chessmaster 9000 receipt dated on or before April 30, 2003, along with a photocopy of the CD or floppy disk from their existing Chessmaster product and the rebate coupon that comes with the new 9000 edition.

Chessmaster 9000 is the latest in a long-running series that was first released for the PC back in 1986. For more information, check out our previous coverage of the Chessmaster series.
