Upcoming PS4 game The Order 1886 streaming live today at 1PM PST

Sony is going to tease out some footage of its upcoming PlayStation 4 game today through Twitch.

UPDATE: The stream may have been short, but the video was captured by GamesHQMedia. We're still waiting on Sony to release the official video, but if you want to rewatch the gameplay in the meantime, you can check it out in the video above.

The original story appears below.

The PlayStation Twitter account teased "a sneak peek at new gameplay from an upcoming PS4 title" coming up today 1PM PST via their Twitch channel.

Though they don't specifically say The Order: 1886 anywhere, the game's logo is clearly visible in the announcement image above. So either they're going to show gameplay from the upcoming adventure game, or they're looking to pull an elaborate bait-and-switch.

You can watch the stream live as it happens via the video embed below!

I was hinging getting a PS4 on this game.  Unfortunately every time they show gameplay it looks worse :(  Based on all the QTE this game will be like 4 hours :P

I spotted the dreaded screen tear during one of the explosions, so I will be avoiding this game like the plague. There is no excuse for it on PS4. I'm leaving screen behind on the PS3 and will not stand for it on PS4. Devs beware.

This game looks really good and the story looks really well written. But I honestly im looking more forward to seeing the new Gears of War in action. I love that series.

Really cool of them to release a good chunk of actual gameplay - though mixed with a few cinematics - this early on. The Order is my 2nd most anticipated game for this year and I'm excited for it even more now.

people talk of replay value but honestly look at films, " hour long film something like £10+ in the UK games £40+ now unless a game is completely terrible they usually have 4x more content or more >.> so to me it's fine and dunno about most but i work a lot so its not like i finish game in one night anyway xD wish i had the time but i don't.

Did anyone else noticed those massive frame dips and drops to 15-20fps? Not going to get this :)

any one know if it's co-op, multiplayer ect?????

Setho10

@panaicman66 No competitve MP. I'm pretty sure they've said single player only, but I don't know if they have directly ruled out co-op. They have said no separate MP modes. So if anything there is campaign co-op, but I'm pretty sure they have said just single player.

That does look pretty next gen, given it was recorded and compressed footage.

This game right here is why the PS4 is simply a SOLID and AMAZING system compared to its rival the X1. This game looks highly compelling and I personally can't wait for E3 as I am sure more of this game will be shared with us.

They already have more announced exclusives than PS4 and more are coming.

Anybody know if there will be a replay of the stream? I''m liking what I have seen so far in gameplay clips

I had my doubts when I saw the first trailer for it, mostly because it showed a whole lot of nothing in my opinion. I like what I'm seeing so far, but there is still a lot I need to know in order to justify getting a PS4 for this game and some others (currently happy with PC). The shooting looks rather bland to me so I'll need to see more on that. It does look visually impressive. I, like many others, still need to know what the story will be like. I would like to get both PS4 and Xbox 1 to be honest. I haven't yet, because the games just aren't there yet for me.

Looks good,  but sooooo much fog. I'm sure each fanboy camp will have their own versions as to why that is, but for the most part the gameplay looks pretty standard but solid with a nice atmosphere to build on. Character models are very good as well.

The framerate is cause by the stream plus compressed youtube.  its at a stable 30fps.

Interesting way to address the ongoing resolution discussion.  With the letterboxing, action is only being displayed on about 700-800 lines.  I'm sure they'll claim 1080p, but 300-400 of those lines aren't displaying any data.

LucentWolf
LucentWolf

@tjkraz Google, " Why The Order:1886 is 1080p and not 800p. View the top link. Explanation for you! :O

tjkraz
tjkraz

@LucentWolf @tjkraz That's exactly my point.  It's being called 1080p but the fact is that 15% of the screen real estate at the top and bottom of the display is not being utilized.  The hardware doesn't have to render a full 1080 lines of resolution because the game only displays 800 lines' worth of data.

I'm not judging whether this is right or wrong.  Personally I think the whole 1080p vs 900p vs PS4 vs XB1 debate is just silly.  Even the Google link you refer to (assuming we're looking at the same one) goes to great pains to show that the 800p gameplay images don't lose much when stretched to 1080p.

uchihasilver
uchihasilver

@tjkraz @LucentWolf it isnt 1080p devs already explained this, they said they wanted something like 900p so they could letterbox it and give it a more cinematic feel

I'm almost sold, the only thing left is the story, I love story in my games that's why I don't play online multiplayer like cod, this however look really interesting, yes it may end up it's gameplay not to be something original but so what? it's the content that counts, all uncharted had similar gameplay, it was the story telling that kept me buying them and it was the story telling that made the last of us a hit (i'm talking for the single player part)

bunchanumbers
bunchanumbers

@baral-o This game should be up your alley then. There's no online multiplayer. There's no local multiplayer. It even went with the cinematic bars on the top and bottom for a more cinematic feel. The story should be a big thing with this game.

bunchanumbers
bunchanumbers

@baral-o @bunchanumbers The only thing I'm concerned about would be the replay value. While a great story is fun and all... what happens after you beat it? Do you replay the game again? Maybe chase a couple of collectibles? I hope they have something up their sleeve at E3.

xantufrog
xantufrog moderator

@baral-o the thermite gun looked like a great addition to give the tried-and-true gameplay some flare. We'll see about the story, but I suspect they are putting a lot of effort into that as well

baral-o
baral-o

@bunchanumbers @baral-o that's why I mostly play RPG both linear like FF13 or open like oblivion, the last for over 50h+ easily, games like the last of us is true that they are very short I miss games like parasite eve 2, new weapons and enemies were put in your next playthrough not just a extra difficulty, I hope they will announce something about replay value in E3, I suspect the order will clock somewhere between 12 to15h

baral-o
baral-o

@rez-935 @bunchanumbers @baral-o I don't mind co op, I mean I play RE5 both alone and in split screen co op, it doesn't sacrifice anything from the story and it was fun, but even if they but co op it will 99% be online only, A have nothing against online but my friend have no ps4 and even if it had why must we never met and play only from a distance? funny thing they called social network yet it encourage isolation

yavix
yavix

That's the thing with Sony's exclusives they are pretty much singleplayer experiences, which I don't mind. I prefer local multiplayer to online anyway. The footage looked interesting so I'll keep my eye on it.

rob9999991
rob9999991

@rez-935 @bunchanumbers @baral-o  Probably too much going on for the system to handle right now for a co-op mode. Wait for the system to be optimized and you will most likely see it in a sequel.
