Universe Unlimited announced

Ethereal Evolution has announced that it's currently working on a massively multiplayer online role-playing game in which players must explore space to advance the human race. Gameplay details on Universe Unlimited are scarce at present, but it seems that the game is set in the year 2262, long after the planet Earth has become uninhabitable and humankind has come into contact with at least four different alien species.

Only the human race will be playable, but Ethereal Evolution's plans for the game are nothing if not ambitious. According to the official Universe Unlimited Web site, players will be able to fly between planets, colonize planets and moons, build starbases and fleets of ships, mine minerals, and carry out planetary bombardments. One of the examples given of gameplay on the site states that players will be able to walk from inside a space station to their ship, fly their ship into a drop ship, land on the planet, and then drive out of the drop ship in a mining vehicle.

Universe Unlimited is currently scheduled for release toward the end of this year. We'll bring you more information on the game as soon as it becomes available.
