Uncharted actor to co-write new Star Wars game for EA

Todd Stashwick says "Thanks everybody for the kind words and support on the Star Wars project. I'm over the moon…wait…that's no moon…"

Todd Stashwick, who is playing a mystery role in the upcoming Uncharted game for PlayStation 4, will co-write the new Star Wars game in development at EA's Visceral Games, it has been revealed. Stashwick, who has appeared in the show Justified, will write the story alongside former Naughty Dog creative director Amy Hennig, who joined EA's Visceral Games earlier this month.

Writing on Twitter, Stashwick thanked fans for their support and said he's going to work hard to deliver a product that fans will enjoy.

"Thanks everybody for the kind words and support on the Star Wars project. I'm over the moon…wait…that's no moon…," he said. "As devout gaming/Star Wars geeks, Amy Hennig and I plan on writing a game we want to play. We will be our harshest critics."

Hennig has been teasing Stashwick's involvement with the new Star Wars game for some time. Earlier this week, she tweeted a picture of herself having breakfast with Stashwick, as well as prolific voice actor Nolan North and even Lord of the Rings actor Monaghan. Curiously, Monaghan is wearing a Star Wars-themed t-shirt.

It is unclear if Stashwick's involvement with the new Star Wars game will in any way affect his contribution to the Uncharted game for PS4.

Visceral Games' Star Wars title is rumored to be an open-world game, though EA has yet to provide any details on what form the studio's first title in the sci-fi series will take. EA and Star Wars franchise owner Disney signed a ten-year, multi-title deal last yearthat makes the Mass Effect publisher the exclusive creator of new Star Wars games. Battlefield developer DICE is currently working on a new Star Wars: Battlefront game.

Stormtrooper: "Why do they all get Blaster Rifles but not me!?"
Officer: "They paid $4.99"

Stormtrooper: "and why do they have gold badges"

officer: "that's premium"

Stormtrooper: "and what do you get with that?"

Officer: "You get the other half of the game"

I want to dine in the place that has Hennig, North and Monaghan around a table at the same time. That's pretty cool.

I recognise the guy from an episode of Life and I think an episode of Supernatural. He was pretty funny in both. I'd be very interested to see what he can do when he's writing content.

Maybe Amy Hennig has poached him from Naughty Dog ;)

Star Wars - George Lucas/Spielberg - Indiana Jones - Uncharted - Amy Hennig/Stashwick. I see what's going on now. No, just kidding.

So EA hires an actor to write......     Do they also hire janitors to do their programming?   How about truck drivers to do the artwork?

Explains a lot LOL

What exactly has this guy ever written that makes anyone feel he's up to the gig of writing an entire story.

Just because Corky from Life Goes On was a star on the show, it's highly doubtful that he was up writing the script, as well.

What next?  Dean Cane writes the next Superman movie?  (Actually, Dean Cane could have probably done a better job...)

Please please please don't be a tie in with the movies

Looking forward to it, unlike some people I don't automatically hate anything EA publishes just for the sake of it.

@straightcur  'Co-writer'. Amy is still the main. It's not uncommon to see actors help.

@elbauto Don't get your hopes up, because then they'll be crushed. It's like going outside carrying an umbrella, because you think it might rain. It won't rain if you do that, because they *know* that you brought an umbrella and therefore work to mess with your expectations.

@Yuusha09  I still want a sequel to Republic Commando. I also wouldn't mind another Rogue Squadron.

@Yuusha09  Unfortunately, SW:TOR is our last and only KOTOR game, at least for a long while. I would love to see a new Jedi Knight game, but with Episode VII coming out, i think that will totally change what is acceptable for the Expanded Universe, so it will be like none of JK will ever happen unless they use elements from the already existing stories in books and video games to create the new movies, which probably wont happen.

@BelaidKL  Pretty sure its been stated that EA won't be doing ANY movie tie ins.

Which is good because movie-based games are crap 99% of the time.

well you can't blame them many games people came to love where some what ruined by EA 's shenanigans like DEAD SPACE 3 and MADDEN

@Daian  Agreed. They just need to 1. not rush it and 2. not try to enforce non existent rules(Derp, always has to be online derp!).

@Darth_Aloysius

True, except for Riddick and Goldeneye. The Chronicles of Riddick Escape From Butcher Bay is one of my favorite games, which says a lot about that.

NorseLax09

@Darth_Aloysius @Daian  True, but they do control the dev companies who make them. They impose tasks such as always online to these companies and often times push out unfinished products just to make a deadline.
