Ukrainian team wins $1 million DOTA 2 tournament

With Gamescom 2011 done and dusted, so too has the DOTA 2 championship tournament "The International" ended. With 16 teams consisting of five players all across the world from Europe to Southeast Asia, only one could be crowned as the champion.

Ukrainian team Na'Vi brought home the gold and placed first in the five-day tournament that spanned from August 17-21. The team won the grand prize of $1 million, split between the team members. Chinese team EHOME came in second place, winning $250,000. Both teams had to fight in a best-of-five elimination series. Singaporean team Scythe.SG came in third place and took home $150,000.

DOTA 2 will be out in full early next year for the PC via Steam. Players who wish to participate in the upcoming beta, which will be launched before the end of the year, need to be registered as Steam users so that they can be picked in a closed-beta-test pool. The open beta test will be launched thereafter.
