EA Sports' football title FIFA 07 ended the year on a high note, returning to the top of the UK all-formats chart for the week of December 24-30. It is the eighth time the game has held the top spot, the most of any title in a calendar year since the 10-week stint at the top for Medal of Honor Frontline, also an Electronic Arts title, in 2002.

The previous week's top seller, Need for Speed Carbon, dropped to number three, while Pro Evolution Soccer 6 was close on the heels of its competition, coming in second for the week.

The New Year sales have seen many games discounted in UK stores, leading to lots of resurgent titles in the charts as bargain hunters snapped up deals. These included Canis Canem Edit (Bully in the US), which jumped 12 places back up the charts to eight; Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07, up 10 spots to 12; and Tomb Raider: Legend, which was also the highest climber of the week, up 26 places to 13.

Meanwhile, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess sold out for the Wii, slowing sales of the title, which dropped out of the top 40 completely from number 11 the week before. In fact, no Wii-exclusive titles were in the all-formats charts for the week. Other end-of-year sliders included Midway's Happy Feet, down 14 to 21, and Eidos' Who Wants to be a Millionaire: Party Edition, down nine to 23.
