UK Chart: The Last of Us stays top of UK chart for fourth week

The Last of Us beats BioShock Infinite and Dead Island: Riptide to become first game in 2013 to stay top of the charts for a month.

Naughty Dog's post-apocalyptic PlayStation 3 exclusive The Last of Us is the first game of 2012 to hold the UK chart for four consecutive weeks.

BioShock Infinite and Dead Island: Riptide both managed to secure three weeks at the top of the chart earlier this year, while Square Enix's Tomb Raider reboot managed two.

Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition holds onto second place, with FIFA 13 enjoying a resurgence in third.

Animal Crossing: New Leaf drops to fourth, followed by Assassin's Creed III in fifth, Tomb Raider in sixth, and Call of Duty: Black Ops II in seventh.

The Sims 3: Island Paradise is eighth, Deadpool ninth, and Far Cry 3 rounds out the top 10.

Namco Bandai's 3DS RPG Project X Zone is the only new entry in the charts, securing 18th position in its debut week.

The Top 20 UK chart for the week ending July 6:

1. The Last of Us

This game sucks, all you do is sneak around and choke people.  It's more a movie than a game.   Granted, only played an hour, and I am going to give it another chance but up to this point, it's not worth $60.

And an impressive dosage of action and human understanding from The Last of Us :D It just deserve to be on the top. In a very enjoyable, fearsome, remarkable adventure that make us look in our inner strengths once and for all, what a beautiful ride it has been.

Hopefully, Naughty Dog will think seriously to have a PC port for this. Plsssssssssssss :D

Now, Tomb Raider is really doing very, very, very well consistent in this rate, being in the top ten for so long since release. Really a nice, must-have game this year.

While Bioshock, a 9.0 critically-acclaimed release this year, is doing a very, very rough going. Last time I read this list, it is wasn't even on this list but now, it just reincarnated out from nowhere.

So, this list shows that the game market is in the hands of the gamer, and not totally affected by critics. We choose what we play, and that really matters in the competition now.

The gaming developers and publishers must now look closely to this numbers, because this will affect what they will do to satisfy us in the near future. :D

Can't wait to get The Last of Us, big Naughty Dog fan. Might have to wait till next month though. :( Oh well, Dark Souls, Tomb Raider and my job will keep me occupied till then.

The Last of Us is my favorite game so far this year. The best game of all time to ever come out in the month of June. June and July, usually the dullest months of the year for games.

As a proud owner of X360 and PS3, i can say that sony is going out in style with the Last of Us, and seeing how state of decay failed(i had really high hopes for this game) sony won with this generation, and in my opinion the starting line of games is better on PS4. To be honest this is probably the best game to come out this year.

Well, deserved... Despite what a particular reviewer may think, Last of Us is gaming excellence.

Hah, The Last of Us is The First of Those that managed to stay at the top for four weeks in a row.

If it sells better in the UK than in the US, it's perhaps appropriate to rename it to The Last of UK rather than The Last of US.

@vatorus I haven't played it yet but that sounds like Uncharted 3 so I'm not surprised. Unfortunately it seems to be the way that action adventure games are going. Especially the ones from Naughty Dog.

@PeejayYeh

Remember that the Last of Us received an 8.0 from GameSpot so not all reviewers have that much credibility anyway. The gamers decide what they want to play.

@gamergath GTA V won't be a GOTY(still doesn't mean the game won't be a-pucking-mazing like anything rockstar makes) Watch Dogs however is a different case. And i think with the spam of games for the next gen consoles, which will probably happen before the end of this year, something better than Last of Us may come out. Maybe even by ND. After all they don't fail to impress.

@G4m3r0uTL4wZ I think you just don't have a PS3 and can't enjoy the beauty of this. Go play Halo.

@G4m3r0uTL4wZ The only sheep i see here is you from the bottom of the comment list till this point. Others are losers if they like this game? just because you dont? Or is it that you think you are smarter and know what games are or aren't? so much butthurt in you that despite you arrogance the game still came on top and toppled whatever you rooted for.

@G4m3r0uTL4wZ Lots of Sheep* moron and this is not an INTERACTIVE MOVIE TLOU is a survival horror action/adventure game.

@vatorus @PeejayYeh if you are enjoying stealthy action, well, this is your game. if you want to play with your enemies while watching them, this is yours. simple as that.

PeejayYeh

@ForceofNature9 @PeejayYeh Exactly. Reviews is a take-it-or-leave-it decision for gamers. It is all up to us. Not all new is good, but not all old is nice. The quality of the product will add more spice to its quantity, but the proper mixture of this ingredients will suffice the overall juiciness of the product. Its is just all about the recipe and procedure to make it taste sooooooo good.

The Last of Us and Tomb Raider set up  different  survival adventure trend in each story: TR being a hardcore survival action adventure in a madman's island, having a National-Treasure ambiance, of a desperate 21-year-old beauty, finding ourselves viewing of our unnamed, hidden inner strengths against all odds. While TLOU is all about staying alive in a post-Apocalyptic environment, contemplating on our sense of living out our lives amidst the pain of inner torment and suffering around us. Bioshock Infinite is kinda-survival action flick, that through confusion, there is somewhat clearness of our existence, if that is right term to desribe it. All of us has different perpective and views in this games, yet the real competition is plain to see: going to the innermost thoughts of the gamers to utilizes the important values and target moral lessons of the story.

IMO, the competition of this year is a combination of challenging yet enjoyable gameplay and the heart-mind interaction of the story, something we can relate to.

Sorry for the essay. :D I am just saying that these games this year is reaching to the gamers as humans. Nice stories! Really!

@JawaLol: You do have a point. Well... lets get to see today's GTAV gameplay footage!

@MJ-X @G4m3r0uTL4wZ Let me explain....if you find this game to be so great, you must have a feeble mind.  This game provides no gameplay and is boring as hell.  Only a simple, feeble mind would be entertained by such a game.  Hence, if you like this game, you are feeble-minded.  If you are feeble-minded, then you probably do not have what it takes to succeed.  If you do not have what it takes to succeed, you are a loser.  Understand?

@frozengrudge @G4m3r0uTL4wZ It took me 16+ hours to beat The Last of Us, and the cinematics take up 30 minutes, maybe. I'm just not seeing your point.

@ForceofNature9 @PeejayYeh If you are referring to Left4Dead.... hahahaha :D At least games are giving us a very good evidence of what my grandfather told me long ago: "Be afraid of the living rather than the dead."

@ForceofNature9 Thanks for summing that up. Let's just say if the trend of the future continues like this, we will be busy gamers, shopping. :D It is just interesting that the developers wanted us to survive with the characters of the game, and that makes these games remarkable, exciting, and satisfactory. :D

@PeejayYeh

Nice synopsis buddy. I agree with your overview of Tomb Raider and the Last of Us and Bioshock Infinite to an extent.

Tomb Raider = Survival against the wild and deadly inhabitants

The Last of Us = Survival against scared citizens and infected individuals

Bioshock Infinite = Survival against those that outcast you.

3 completely different "survival' scenarios.

yeah..........good luck with that.
