Ubisoft's The Division delayed to 2015

Assassin's Creed publisher delays upcoming Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC game to 2015.

No mention was made as to why the delay was necessary, but Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said the publisher will share more details about the game during its E3 2014 media briefing next month.

Earlier this year, an anonymous source said The Division's 2014 release date was "laughable." Revealed at E3 2013, The Division is a third-person shooter set in a post-apocalyptic New York. Ubisoft has said the title will feature an "unprecedented level of realism."

Dec 31 2015 is a long way away for such a visually exciting title but I can find a quintillion things to do between now and then.  I seriously cannot wait!!

How is this "delayed to 2015?" I always thought the game would come out 2015 at the EARLIEST. Was there a report anywhere claiming it would come out of 2014?

Shadowcreeper31

@Babugee  It was supposed to come out 2014. It was on a large number of websites.. I would know :/

@Shadowcreeper31 Haha oh. I've only seen the the trailer at the police station. Other than that things have been pretty quiet in my eyes.

But alrighty.

I saw this history before...

When they launch game the graphics will be terrible ....

If anyone thought it was launching in 2014, you were seriously mistaken. It is very laughable to think it would come out in 2014. Which is why I am waiting till the end of the year to really start getting parts for my new rig.

This should have been expected. Its the only MMO type game that I am even remotely interested in anymore, and the game is so involved I expect a late 2015 release date.

I would rather them take an extra year to make a truly wonderful game, than to rush out and try to profit on hype, and marketing, only to have the game leave a lot to be desired. Like a lot of games have done!

Good news. I miss the days when games were actually finished before released, although this will still have that 1.5 GB day one patch and now I have little more time to upgrade my rig before this game. Very slim chances I'll go for console version, only if my friends one reason or another goes for console version, doubt it tho.

With so many games currently available to play(and many more soon to be released in 2014) This delay doesn't really bother me. I've got lots of gaming to do. I honestly can't resist the urge to buy a game if it's released. I'm currently juggling BL2, Fable Anniversary, Forza 5, Titanfall, and Battlefield 4. There are only so many hours in a day!

We knew this already. "Earlier this year, an anonymous source said The Division's 2014 release date was "laughable." "- This quote was in an article a few months back. The anonymous source said there was absolutely no way The Division would launch in 2014. I never even bothered getting my hopes up.

@themc_7  Yea same here.  For whatever reason though,  Ubisoft waited for months and months to finally CONFIRM that it won't be out this year, and it's about time imo, because I've seen way too many people still expecting it out this year!

My purchase of anything Next Gen, be it console or PC - delayed until 2015

dark_rising76
dark_rising76

I thought it wasn't coming out until 2015 anyways, so I'm not surprised by this. Guess it's better to delay and make the game right rather than release it early and have it play like crap.

Think we all saw this coming, or you did if you actually paid attention to video game news

Nothing is true....everything is permitted....

especially if it means releasing and selling next gen consoles one year earlier than they were supposed to be....and promising good next gen titles and delivering none.....

mi_hung_lo

Is there any good true next gen title going to be released this year?

namitokiwa
namitokiwa

@mi_hung_lo  maybe Dragon Age: Inquisition ... but ofcourse if you still give Bioware a chance. A trailer was so  amazing and the graphic are great, too.

@mi_hung_lo Depends on what you consider "good true next gen title"......Arkham Knight hopefully will release this year.

Sad, but take your time please. I have such high hopes for this game that I am sure to be disappointed. :)

A delayed game may eventually be good, but a rushed game is bad forever.

Was there even a release date for it to be delayed?

Cool! First The WItcher now The Division. Enough time to make that long overdue upgrade.

It seems like every game we were promised when we rushed out and bought a next gen console has been delayed.I'm beginning to think they knew that and were just waiting for the right time to announce it.

incrediblmullet

@waffleiron88 @Sun-Tzu-GE  I'm going to sound like a douch but I know a console company that never puts out buggy, rushed, unfinished products yet it's constantly bashed....N

Sun-Tzu-GE
Sun-Tzu-GE

@waffleiron88 @Sun-Tzu-GE  Of course they need more time,duh...But I believe they knew that already when they announced them. When one game gets delayed it's normal. When 2 games get delayed,it's a coincidence. When 3 games get delayed it's no longer a coincidence.

They just wanted people to rush out and buy next gen consoles.

Securator
Securator

@Sun-Tzu-GE  Yep....I think the new consoles were meant to be released later in 2014....but because of the Wii U releasing earlier they rushed theirs to the market too....if the console launch in Novemeber was planned beforehand they wouldv at least made an effort and started making games for them 2  years earlier so that we could have had actual games to play in 2014.....now what do we do with these machines the entire year.....

waffleiron88
waffleiron88

@Sun-Tzu-GE Or they just need more time to get it right, which I will gladly give them. I for one am sick and tired of getting buggy, rushed, unfinish products.

I remember at least year's E3 all of Gamespot's commentary team were already making predictions this wasn't going to be ready for a 2014 release date. Even though everyone was quite impressed with the gameplay trailer's display of your ability to close car doors while in cover.

bubba_1988
bubba_1988

So it seems like if you don't have a next gen console yet, late 2015, early 2016 would be the best time to jump in.

UrbanMessiah

Part of me thinks the game actually might be able to make the 2014 window, but corporate got in their mind that delaying The Division like they did with Watch Dogs and continuously tease us with videos would boost pre-orders for the former like it seems to have happened with the latter.

FCT-Steve-O

On one hand I'm happy because there are a lot of games I want to buy near the end of this year so who knows if I would of had time to play this, or any other games.

Was to expect... Still, they should be more responsible and stick to their dates.

@pezzott1  Considering how many games Ubisoft releasing lately, I'm actually not surprised. The crew, Watch Dogs, Far Cry 4, Assassin's Creed, The Division and Tom Clancy's Rainbow 6: Patriots, I'm actually surprised.

Lots of delays. Oh well. Plenty of games coming out ahead of it.
