The Crew, Ubisoft's upcoming open-world racing game for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC, has been in development for at least six years. That's according to a new promotional website for the game spotted this week by Videogamer.

"After six years in development, The Crew is more than ever ready to hit the hands of gamers," a post on the Route 909 website says.

That means The Crew has been in development since 2008, long before Microsoft and Sony were officially talking about the Xbox One and PS4. Another new game from Ubisoft, this month's open-world action game Watch Dogs, was developed over the course of more than five years.

A "work in progress" version of The Crew will be playable at selected gaming centers around the world starting tomorrow, according to the Route 909 website. There are events scheduled for major cities like Montreal, London, Paris, New York, Dubai, and Copenhagen.

The Crew launches later this year for Xbox One, PS4, and PC. For more, be sure to read GameSpot's previous coverage.
