Ubisoft heads for Exit

French publisher signs deal with Taito to publish three games in US, Europe. Exit puzzles PSPs in February.

by

Ubisoft today announced that it will be publishing three games from Taito's library in North America and Europe. The publisher will localize the games for regional markets and put them on shelves in 2006.

The first game under the deal is the PSP game Exit, which was released in Japan this year. Exit is an action-oriented puzzle game with stylish comic-book-influenced graphics, and it will be available in the US and Europe in February 2006.

Gamers will slip into the suit of Mr. ESC, a man who specializes in the art of escapology and rescuing helpless citizens. Players will be challenged to save subjects from a variety of perilous predicaments, including raging fires, flooding subways, and collapsing buildings. Gamers will climb ropes, scale ladders, and move objects in more than 100 different scenarios, and additional levels will be available for download.

For more information on Exit, read GameSpot's preview from Tokyo Game Show 2005.

Great news. I can't wait to get my hands on this game. If Ubisoft were leaving, they wouldn't have capitalized Exit. ;)

Haha. That was obvious, or Exit wouldn't of been capitalized. Anyway, this game sounds like Prince of Persia with a new theme, which is cool, but it'd be nice if Ubisoft did something new.

I am getting tired of reading Gamespot's teaser titles. I know that corporate contract news releases are boring, but the (apparently) intentional ambiguity of the Gamespot's news headlines borders on the irresponsible. In an industry fueled by rumours, all it takes is one misunderstanding to cause real damage to a company's reputation or commercial viability. In a worst case scenario, where a company's reputation was damaged, it could be Gamespot (EB Games) heading for the exit. I have worked on contract with game companies and, believe me, you don't want to meet their lawyers. Tone it down Gamespot and just focus on contextualizing the news. That's the real value Gamespot can provide its subscribers (like me).

I don't really care about this. I'm more relieved that the headline "Ubisoft Heads for Exit" doesn't mean that Ubisoft is dead. I almost had a heart attack.
