Ubisoft confirms Assassin's Creed: Liberation HD for 2014

HD release of Vita spin-off Assassin's Creed III: Liberation coming to Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.

by

Ubisoft has confirmed that Vita spin-off Assassin's Creed III: Liberation will be coming to Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC in 2014.

Original developer Ubisoft Sofia is handling the HD re-release, and Ubisoft says that the visuals of Assassin's Creed Liberation HD have been updated to feature new shaders and improved textures, and that AI and animations have been improved.

The touchscreen elements have been stripped out, and the game will feature 15 new missions. Existing missions have been tweaked based on player feedback, and Ubisoft adds that the game's free-running has been improved.

The game's HD remake was first outed last week when a screen of Ubisoft logos leaked online.

Alongside Liberation HD, Ubisoft also confirmed Assassin's Creed: Pirates for iOS and Android devices. Pirates will be focused entirely on naval battles, and will be set in the 18th century. The game will not be linked to the storyline of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag.

Assassin's Creed: Pirates will launch this autumn.

AC Liberation was the only reason why I want to get a PS Vita (there are more games now on it) but I didnt get it yet usually when a new AC game comes out I get it right away but the Vita and memory stick price was just killing me so I hold off and I'm kinda glad i did. Now I can finally play a update Liberation on my console, I hope they release they release it early next year like around Jan or Feb. Anyone getting the Season Pass for Black Flag?

Good game.

Heck of a game for a handheld, but not quite as good as its console brethren.

I did learn a lot about American history I didn't know while playing it. Mostly that Louisiana was more Spanish than French. It's often portrayed backwards.

Even the famous French Quarter was actually Spanish. Weird stuff.

Nice that more people will get to play this. Those that want it on the Vita will still be able to play it there. The Vita will be just fine. Sony know how to bring back a system from the brink.

Already burnt out on these games. Don't need another one on console even if it's just a port.

The Vita version probably didn't sell that well. Recoup!

Anyone else think its odd releasing this after AC4?

I heard Liberation was good, so I'm excited about this. Looking forward to playing it.

I've been working on Liberation off and on since I got it almost a year ago. It's not a very good game. I love Assassin's Creed but for some reason I can only play this one for about a half hour at a time before I get bored and put it away for a few more weeks/months.

yes give more reasons for people to avoid buying a vita...

Cool. Seeing as it actually was the better game than 3 I look forward to playing it.

I quit the AC franchise at Revelations, it's been milked to bone dry death imo, but I may get this on PS3. I always wanted to be a female in the series and felt it was wasted only being on the Vita.

I got this game and a Vita for Christmas last year and while I thought the game wasn't as good as the main games it is good that people who don't own a Vita can play it.  The game was interesting for a side story.

Great, how about including a HD remake of Bloodlines in there aswell? Just to get the full story...

Because home console players have been clamoring for the crappy handheld versions of the games they love!

wonder if that PS4 exclusive for AC4 will come to x1 eventually.

One less reason to get a Vita. While I understand the need to expand for the sake of money...I hate when companies do this. It makes systems that already have little support get slapped in the face essentially.

I got the AC:Liberation Vita bundle last thanksgiving and haven't regretted it. Glad it's coming to consoles so more people can meet the awesome assassin whose name actually escapes my brain at the moment. :P

So Assassin's Creed for Vita now gets a release on the main home consoles, and Resident Evil for 3DS went the same way. Why even make those exclusive from the start if you're gonna do that?

I'm glad this is happening, some games need to be on a console not a handheld.

Gonna trade in AC3L since I haven't even beaten the game and just wait for this one. AC games are best played on big screen anyway.

I enjoyed Assassin's Creed 3 Liberation for the PSvita. So an HD re-release with 15 extra missions is a good idea. more people can experience this game. 5.2 Million install base VS 77 million for PSvita and Playstation 3.

this will allow folks to discover this Assassins Creed installment, or Side-Quel Since most have play the main Assassin's Creed 3 game.

AC Liberation was good but i guess it suits to a hand held better and will seem to be a short game if released on ps3 or ps4. like  Metal Gear Solid - Peace Walker was

Well, like all games, buy it if you think you will like it, don't buy it if you don't.

Can't agree at all. I've enjoyed every game in the series. The gameplay has been expanded and improved with each game and the narratives are always interesting to me.

@DiamondDM13no but how about releasing the entire franchise into one anthology collection... just get the the full story ?

@Xevengar

Oh how original. A sheep talking about milk, imagine that.

Seriously, do you guys think you are witty for jumping on that hate bandwagon and repeating the same thing all of the other sheep repeat?

Obviously there are a great many gamers that enjoy the Assassin's Creed games or they wouldn't continue to sell so well.

I'll stop playing this series as soon as the games become crappy and offer nothing new or enjoyable. So far that hasn't been the case.

@Bowser05 There is still Persona 4 Golden as a Vita exclusive.

@BARRICADE_28

People are still buying them in record numbers so I'd say that many of us do enjoy them quite a lot. Nobody is going to spend $60 of their hard-earned money on a game that is crap. They especially aren't going to continue doing that game after game.

I know it's the hipster thing to do to bash games that become very successful or that have releases very often, but I go by my own judgement. And the fact is, I think they have done a great job bringing new ideas and improving each game in the series and I have enjoyed all of them.

@toshineon Money. Doesn't sell well enough on the original platform they intended it for. It's really sad because it means they are saying they don't think the platform is good enough, but from a business perspective it makes sense.

The-Neon-Seal

@rIVAL_sWORD84 Peace Walker also came with MGS 2 and 3, plus the original MG's 1 and 2 though so you know... can't really grumble about that.

DiamondDM13

@roman4545 @DiamondDM13 Oh, trust me, they will, in some years. When the franchise starts to shows signs of being close to an end, as in people start to lose interest and don't buy 5 million copies in all systems, then they will launch a new Anthology with everything in it.
