Ubisoft adding 100 jobs to Quebec City studio
Assassin's Creed publisher plans to add jobs over the course of three years as part of a $25 million investment supported by $450,000 from the Quebec government.
Ubisoft has announced that it plans to add 100 jobs at its Quebec City studio over the course of the next three years as part of a $25 million investment. Ubisoft's investment, supported by $460,000 from the Quebec government, will allow the developer to "strengthen its infrastructure" and "take the lead" on development of AAA next-generation games, the publisher said.
The Ubisoft Quebec studio, which already employs 320 people, opened in 2005 and has collaborated on games in the Might & Magic, Prince of Persia, and Assassin's Creed franchises. Most recently, the company lent a hand to Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag and its Freedom Cry expansion.
"We are proud to accompany Ubisoft in its growth in Quebec. Interactive entertainment is an important vector for the economy in the Quebec City region, and helps to promote Quebec's savoir-faire on an international level," Quebec Premier Pauline Marois said in a statement.
In September, Ubisoft announced a wider investment of $373 million, also supported by local government, for the creation of 500 new jobs in Quebec by 2020. And a month later, the Quebec government announced a multimillion dollar investment to add 100 new jobs to Batman: Arkham Origins developer WB Games Montreal.
